Mariners TRADE Graveman to Astros!!!!!! WHAT THE FUCK!!?????

He traded someone who is a free agent at the end of the season for someone who has 4 years of control and plays a position that Mariners need help for next year. Again. Playoffs this year would be great, but it's about 2022 and 2023.

When you haven't made the playoffs in 20 years How could you possibly be ok with throwing the towel in on a season when you are 1 game out of the wildcard? Seriously they have all the payroll in the world. Toro brings absolutely nothing that you couldn't easily replace in the offseason.

Because I'm not so myopic thinking that making a wildcard this year should be the end goal

Once again, keeping Graveman and trying for the wildcard does not make it the "end goal" keeping graveman does not derail the rebuild. Toro adds nothing that they couldn't have gotten just as easily in the off season. Competing now and in the years to come is not an either or proposition.

How is Toro any different than Dylan Moore and Shed Long? Same fucking player.

Dipoto absolutely loves players who are flexible. I think his goal is to have a roster full of utility players. (Only half joking). Toro is exactly the mold that JD covets. He would rather have flexibility than have a player who plays one position and excels both in the field and at the plate.

Really the only thing that bugs me about this is doing it during the series with the Astros. I hate seeing our guy switch uniforms right in our ballpark.
They should have made the deal, and finalized after tomorrow's game.

Yeah, but getting something of value from someone you lose in 2 months helps. I understand both sides, and I wouldn't have been upset if they kept him either

Here's my biggest concern. Losing Graveman hurts from a strictly pitching aspect. He's been amazing this entire season. But we have players who can replace him. I think Seawald can step right in and do a nice job.

I believe the bigger impact will be what it's going to do, and is currently doing to the psych of the team. I think that will be a far bigger impact, and can completely derail the chemistry of the team, something this team thrives on.
