I don't actually think it's better for Yankees to win. Mariners still have 7 against the A's, so it's not that imperative that we catch up with them. As long as we keep pace, we can still pass them.
It would be better if Yankees fell back a few games.

Disclaimer: It doesn't really matter I guess, since who I root for changes zero outcomes.
