I'm not considering the trade package, just player for player what would make Olson better?

Olson had a 5.8 WAR verses 2.7 for Winker.

I don't care much about WAR. Who is the better hitter? Seems Winker brings just as much to the lineup.

I find this a little concerning

Ken Rosenthal of the Athletic reports (on Twitter) that the deal also contains a player to be named later. He adds that Cincinnati believes that still-unknown player “enhances” the quality of their return.

It sounds a little ominous: Once you consider they already got Williamson who should be cracking the top 100, and Dunn a former top 100 coming off a 3.75 ERA in 2021 and a 3.92 ERA spread across his MLB career. Fraley.

I hope it is not anything out of my top 7 or so.

Olson is the better hitter. Winker is a Platoon player who has never played more than 113 games in a season because he can't hit lefties. He is a career .188 hitter with a .600 OPS against lefties. Olson is at .243 /.804 against lefties. We will see what happens if the M's try to make him an ever day player.

Jesus I feel like I need to write a formal letter of apology to JD. He did exactly what he said he was going to do. Got Impact bats to play on the left side of the field (one is LH) and didn't have to give up prospects to do it. And we are still only about $100M in payroll.

Of course, I'm a prospect hugger and liked/loved Brandon Williamson, but I was dying to get rid of Fraley and Dunn...and you must give to get... I love this trade, gives us a left hand impact bat and a good defensive infielder with a strong power history.... Plus these are two stellar individuals, guys that the fans will fall in love with and will really fit in with this young exciting club. Well done Dipoto...Let's get these guys in here and start working toward the playoffs...

I'm really concerned who the ptbnl is but if its ANYONE outside our top 5 I'm frigging ECSTATIC about this trade. I really wanted Bryant or Suzuki here but don't see how it makes sense now. I know we need another pitcher and assume another trade is incoming anytime but what a day to be an Ms fan. My only minor irritation is we have a payroll only 100 and a ton of money that we should still be spending but I don't see a logical place to put it at this point. I guess thats a good thing but still irritating. Still hoping for one more big signing and a solid number 3 at least. Damn good offseason Dipoto!
