So I'm watching the Reds vs Cubs game to see as many Winker AB's before the season starts. First 10 seconds is already super entertaining from a Javy Baez highlight that most of us would remember. Rizzo was still on the team before being traded to NYY, though he didn't play in the game. A lot of guys numbers were way down to begin the season. Was it because of the banned substance pitchers were using? It didn't seem to affect Winker.

The game has a bit of everything. Winker vs righties and lefties. He has an at bat against Chafin, so you get to see what that looks like, as well facing Kimbrell on his birthday in the 9th inning. Eugenio Suárez has a pinch at bat appearance for the Reds. Kris Bryant is playing 1B and doing damage all over the diamond. Wound up being a very enjoyable game.

I'm kinda glad Seattle didn't land Story or Bryant. Let Haniger walk, or trade him at the deadline for prospects. They have plenty of money to make a run at "Sho-time" next offseason. Imagine Ohtani in the current lineup and rotation. And we all know how much Dipoto loves Shohei!

If we are so out of it with a 12 team playoff at the deadline that trading Mitch makes sense JD should be fired. As for Ohtani, the Sham Wow guy loves Shohei but given he chose the Angels despite JDs dog and pony show, it doesn't seem the feeling is mutual.
