Cole misses his spot badly, the pitch is clearly out of the strike zone, and the ump calls it a strike.

Lewis got two meatballs in the middle of the plate and missed both of them. Do we not have Lamb in uniform yet?

I don't know that he has ever really been an ace. 3.62 Career ERA. Solid but he's never been under 3 until this year. Even this year he was at 3.71 on June 22 and just got hot recently. He is probably a #2 on a typical World Series contending team.

That was the worst check swing call I've ever seen. This home plate ump is definitely waving the pinstripe pom-poms today and just cost us a baserunner to go with the free run.

Yeah, maybe I have been absorbing the hype a bit too much.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 6:08 pmI don't know that he has ever really been an ace. 3.62 Career ERA. That is definitely one he should have at least checked with the 3B ump.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 6:10 pmThat was the worst check swing call I've ever seen. This home plate ump is definitely waving the pinstripe pom-poms today and just cost us a baserunner to go with the free run.

Will be interesting too to see how pitching in T-Mobile park will effect his ERA also.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 6:08 pmI don't know that he has ever really been an ace. 3.62 Career ERA. It is CB Buckor in the midst of his ongoing battle with Laz Diaz to be the worst Ump in Baseball.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 6:10 pmThat was the worst check swing call I've ever seen. Oh Gawd! I feel awful for the guy. But it is part of the business. They had 4 extra starters other than their starting 5, and that was BEFORE they traded for Montas. So I get why they had to trade somebody.mostonmike wrote: ↑Wed Aug 03, 2022 4:02 pmFair play, the lad is going to have an extra incentive to play well.
Compare and contrast with Jordan Montgomery who looks absolutely gutted about being traded yesterday. And the Yankees made him sit a presser to say how upset he was. Shocking.
