Just had an interesting exchange with Divish but he neglected to answer my final question:

I think he is getting at what I was referring to, that Seattle is isolated up in the NW corner of the country, and it not just air miles

He would have just said that. I think it is pretty clear that he was referring to the fact that they just aren't in on FA position players for financial reasons and never have been.

He looking at it from the players position, IE the stadium. If they mariners don't want to hand out contracts that's up to them

A short history lesson of Mariners DH fWAR in the Dipoto era:

2016: 4.3 fWAR (2nd of 16) (Nelson Cruz)
2017: 3.6 fWAR (1st of 17) (Nelson Cruz)
2018: 2.6 fWAR (6th of 16) (Nelson Cruz)
2019: 2.8 fWAR (6th of 17) (Encarnacion/Vogelbach)
2020: -.6 fWAR (25th of 30) (rotating)
2021: -.1 fWAR (13th of 19) (rotating)
2022: -.1 fWAR (22nd of 30) (rotating)

But just think how rested Mitch and KLew were last season. How else would that have such healthy productive seasons without resting in the DH spot?

Yeah, but it wouldn't be the lack of contracts. The reason players don't want to come to Seattle is because dipoto won't give them a contract, okay

And the reason he didn't answer is because it's pretty vague really. A sense of Seattle being outside the mainstream
