NOW Yoshida has officially been posted:

But he is left handed and won't be able to protect JK and TT against those mean nasty LH Pitchers!!!
I swear Jerry just opens his mouth and shit falls out and he calls it an offseason plan. We had a right handed COF option to protect JK and TT, and we traded him (KLew). And we didn't extend a QO to Mitch who, although not a left fielder, could do what JD says he wants to do.

Supposedly the Giants made a $360M offer to Judge.

This won't move any needles, but it's still a transaction - Andrew Heaney to the Rangers:

They can't even hit RH pitching. That's the "hilarious" part of it.

Just had an interesting exchange with Divish but he neglected to answer my final question:

divish.jpg
I think he is getting at what I was referring to, that Seattle is isolated up in the NW corner of the country, and it not just air miles
He would have just said that. I think it is pretty clear that he was referring to the fact that they just aren't in on FA position players for financial reasons and never have been.
Without looking it up, I was trying to recall when we last signed a big FA position player other than Cano. Do we need to go all the way back to Beltre and Sexson? Am I forgetting someone? I guess we could include Ichiro in the list but he was only brought in because of the Japanese ownership.

Speaking of Beltre and Sexson, remember how we were all completely shocked when the M's opened the checkbook and brought in the two biggest FA's on the market that year? Oh, how times have changed.

Look what the Rangers are doing. Last year they signed both Seager and Semien to huge contracts. Thus far this year, they've signed deGrom and are in talks with Rodon as we speak. Apparently they're not so concerned with what their payroll is going to look like in 2026! Are they nuts?!?!

If you're referring to the 'finite shopping list' piece, I just read it. Highly frustrating, but pretty much what I expected from JD and the rest of the Mariners 'brain trust'.

The thing that frustrates and pisses me off the most is that they lied to us AGAIN as they've done so many times in the past, and I was naive enough to fall for it. They kept telling us that once the core was in place, the money was going to be there to provide the pieces necessary to make us a legitimate contender. Apparently they just realized they were going to have to pay to field a team in 2026, so 2023, 2024, and 2025 be damned, even though we are right on the cusp of actually being good with a couple key additions, which would pack T-Mobile and give the owners more of what's most important to them, and that's profit.

In reality and which has become exceedingly clear, they want to field a team that will make us just competitive enough to give the fans hope and encourage them to show up to the games, buy $16 beers and eat insects.

Seattle reliever Paul Sewald recently had a procedure on his heel and a routine cleanup on his right elbow, according to beat reporter Corey Brock at The Athletic:

"There's no concerns about him not being ready for ST," according to Brock's tweet.
