So how's that hot stove workin' out for all you folks out there in Mariner-land? Don't sit too close or you might be overcome by all the hot air.

So, the Mets are reportedly frustrated with Correa negotiations. Dunno what the sticking points are (length, money, medical clauses...?), but they may walk away from the deal:

There are lots of other teams likely lined up, waiting in the wings. My question is: would any of you make a run at him? I think we all know Jerry won't, but would it make sense to?
It seems the sticking point is a previous leg injury. It hasn't been an issue since then, but given that a lengthy contract would take him to age 40, it's entirely possible that this could be a thing in the future. I think the Mets are going to want some sort of a medical clause in their contract. Correa and Boras are likely fighting it.
If the Mets walk away from this deal, it might be a sobering reminder to Carlos that he's not that important (at least for the money he's asking), and it might force him into negotiating something more modest with another team. So if you think he's worth the risk, what do you ask? 4-5 years at $80-90M? Medical clauses? Taking him "as-is" like a used car? Or is he too risky, too ego-maniacal, and too Astros-tainted for you?
