It's being reported at other sites. Here is four possible trade proposals using standard trade charts
Option 1: Seahawks trade pick No. 5, No. 37 to Cardinals for pick No. 3

Option 2: Seahawks trade pick No. 5, No. 37, and No. 123 to Cardinals for pick No. 3

Option 3: Seahawks trade pick No. 5, No. 37, and 2024 second round pick to Cardinals for pick No. 3

Option 4: Seahawks trade pick No. 5, No. 20 to Cardinals for pick No. 3
Four seems like a huge overpay, this is what he says
Depending how badly Schneider wants Richardson or another quarterback prospect, he may have to put all of his chips onto the table. Offering both first round picks to move up only two spots would be deemed a significant overpay based on either trade chart model, but sliding up in the top five can be extremely costly and if he truly believes he has a chance to draft a future star under center, that price may be well worth the lucrative investment.

I agree. Giving up #20 to move up two spots? I just don't see it.

I think this is all smoke and mirrors - I would be legit surprised if they moved to take a QB - it's just not how they operate. They want to get someone esle to trade up for a QB to improve their defensive pick. Seattle's glaring glaring glaring weakness last year was the front seven - the moves they made this off season were great - but that front seven is still below average and wagner is not a long term answer. They have to start there to make this team formidable again. I will be shocked if they moved up - this is about building the defense. I could stomach the QB from Ohio state - but for the long storied history that program has - their QB's rarely make noise in the NFL - and the kid from bama is just too short. No way they take richardson. I can see them trading back, but no chance in hell they trade up. There is no need to. I 100% believe this is all a calculated attempt to get someone to trade up and take another QB leaving them with either anderson or carter to select. I don't beleive the 'red flags' will stop them from potentially taking carter - there isn't a team more qaulified to handle him than Carroll and co. That said, I can definitely see them trading back. I see no way they take a qb up top. Seattle's biggest problem is stopping the run - until that addressed - they will not be contending for anything - and Carroll and Schneider know this. All roads to the super bowl run through the d-line. Improve that and the secondary will look light years better - and they were pretty decent last year with a high ceiling of potential.

I think they stay put, but I don't think its out of this realm that the Hawks have at least had discussions about moving up. And I am high on Staton, but he's not the end all. I just happen to agree in this situation.

And Seattle was NEVER going to take Willis. He was a one-trick pony. One read and go. I was never high on him like I have been on these four.

I trust Tony Pauline over Staton. Pauline's big boards have been more accurate than anyone's over the last 5 years. And Tony's got Jalen Carter ranked #1 on his big board. This happens to be a scenario where Tony and I agree to disagree. Just like you and I. I don't bear any ill will or malcontent. I enjoy our conversations. We just happen to have to very differing views on this particular topic.
I respect your opinions, and you were more right than anybody here last year about the draft. I know you do a lot of research so your comments have merit. I also respect that you can take criticism of your opinions, considering they differ so much from my own (on the Richardson and drafting a QB thing anyway). Neither of us will be swayed I don't think... but it will make it interesting when we look back a year from now (and a little bit in a month).

I believe Jalen Carter is the best non-QB football player out there... I just wish he wasn't such a very serious risk on the non-football side of things. I'm not a fan of taking red-flags with football players attached, but it's such a position of need, and football-wise it'd be such a nice fit. Sucks. On the flip side, I watched some interviews with Anderson, and I LOVE that kid. He seems like somebody that is motivated, will work hard AND has elite talent.

If the Seahawks took a QB at 5, I would be disappointed and surprised, but not shocked. If they think there's a guy worthy of that pick, I trust them... but I don't think there is. If they traded UP to draft one? I would be shocked. Floored. Dumbfounded. Unless maybe Carolina took Richardson, Houston took Young, then suddenly CJ Stroud was there at 3... then things could get interesting. Still don't think it would happen, but he's the one guy I wouldn't be mad about taking that high.

I kinda still think it'll be Carter, Anderson, or trade back depending on how 1-4 shakes out.
As do I. You're takes are well thought out and I value you're opinion as well. I try to be as objectionable as I can. At the end if the day, we both want to see our Hawks become a power house again.

Mid-season, I was right there with on Carter's inclusion as a possible scenario with Anderson and the 4 QB's. I still have sleepless nights of the Malik McDowell blunder and how we drafted potential over character. We thought we might be able to coach him up. But I've seen too many McDowell, Harvin's, and Boykin's of the world and not enough ADB's! So I get really nervous when I see game tape on the biggest stage, a combine, AND a Pro Day all go up in flames. Not to mention the circus draft racing to go along with the fact there's a number of individuals around the league who thinks this kid has an attitude problem. That's one too many red flags for me.

Could he have been the hands down best overall prospect in this draft? You bet you're ass! There's no denying this kid's potential. But I value character very highly when thinking about who would be perfect for our locker room. That was what the Seahawks preached going into last year's draft and they absolutely crushed it along with the Jets draft. I think they carry that same mind set coming into this one as well.

If you or anyone could predict that the Hawks could get every last possible positive outcome out of Carter for the future, then I could see a situation where Seattle would have no choice but to take him when we pick.
You are doing a great job!! I assume you meant objective??? :)

Yeah if I were to handicap it I would say 3% chance of moving up 40% chance of staying at 5 and 57% chance of trading down. Yes that was for you 57reasons! :)

That's a lot of smoke and many mirrors with no outcome within their control. I mean, top brass is flying around the country in Allen's private jet to see QBs and not making other stops. Furthermore, there's really no news on them vetting 1st round defense, which would be near impossible to keep secret if they were vetting 1st round d. This would be some CIA level cloak & dagger stuff if your theory is correct.

I'd absolutely take Anderson if he's there at #5, but I have a feeling John and Pete do desire Richardson, for better or worse. A strong pivot for the future has to be made 'post Russ', and Geno is not the long-term solution.

Thing is, if they take a QB, will that improve the team? We all agree that Geno can be good for another year or two. But will the Hawks improve much by drafting a QB? The team needs defense. Better defense up front will improve the team's chances of doing well in the playoffs. Drafting a QB that they can slot in after Geno is through only means we're stuck where we are. Is Pete willing to stand pat for two more years? He's already 71.

It may feel like there's some truth to this. But how many FA defensive players did they sign in FA? And did they address their weak points in the process? So with that said, are we really 'stuck' if FA signings are taken into consideration? Maybe, but not for the reason that the team is exactly the same as last year.

But it's NOT without the outcome - should someone move up. The thing is - they HAVE to go scout all the top players no matter what - you have to know them, but you also have hide your cards. I don't disagree with your position on Richardson at all - there is an incredible potential and a wild risk reward factor - the case for drafting him is absolutely legit - I do not disragard it at all - my position is Seattle has a defensive minded coach with the opportunity to land a potentially game changing player on his side of the ball - which desperately needs it - so logically I lean in that direction - not because I take anything away from the Richardson position - landing a super stud that has to sit for a year or two does not bother me at all - it makes perfect sense to me. I love the long game thinking of it, to be honest.
