What do you mean by hype? His reputation is built on his performance on the field.
When you say wrong body, you mean for the Hawks? You know Wyman likes him, thinks they should take him at 20, wrote an article about it. He is a big guy, road grader. He fits a particular style of line. I was wondering that about the hawks, he definitely wouldn't have fit in the past, does he now? I was wondering if Wyman took that into account, seems like he would understand that. But he is a very good lineman for the correct situation. He lost 10 pounds before the senior bowl, to show he could do it. There is an opinion he could fit a wider variety of lines at a lighter weight.
Well this guy seems to feel he can fit a variety of styles as is.
. Overall, Torrence has starter-level size, play strength and power, with the right demeanor to be a potential impact starter at guard in most schemes. Ideally, he would plug into a run and play-action focused offense that incorporates a healthy mix of gap concepts to suit what he does best and maximize his physical traits and skill set.
And this Senior Bowl deal, horrible week? I see positive reviews.
One of the most impressive players of the week has been Florida offensive guard O’Cyrus Torrence. In a recent practice recap, Jordan Reid of ESPN wrote about how impressive Torrence has been at the Senior Bowl. Here is what he had to say about the SEC guard:
“Florida interior offensive lineman O’Cyrus Torrence continued to look like a first-round player on Wednesday. He was my highest-ranked prospect coming into the week, and he has actually exceeded expectations. He showcased overwhelming power and the ability to anchor at the point of attack. Torrence projects as a mid-to-late Day 1 selection.
Article Senior Bowl winners at each position....That's his weakness pass blocking, if he has been showing ability at it during senior bowl week, that's significant
. IOL: O'Cyrus Torrence, Florida
When isolated in pass protection in one-on-one drills, Torrence stymied his opponents with a great anchor, base, power absorption and the controlled footwork to mirror. But he was at his best, creating consistent movement in the run game, using his strength and hand strength to move defenders off the ball and cutting off linebackers at the second level.
In the game he got flattened by Ivan Pace. That I believe raised eyebrows in terms of Pace, rather than Torrence, that was a great play by Pace
