I want the BEST player on the board period! That's Will Anderson or any of the Top 4 QB's after that!

Carter could be that guy, but I'm just too nervous about all the circus stuff going on around him.
sorry, but I just don't buy that. There are 100 players better than Levis or Richardson. The only reason they're put up there is because they are QBs, and they aren't even GOOD QBs. Just tremendous physical specimens that happen to play the position. Potential? yes. "Best Players"? not even close. So, assuming Young and Stroud are off the board, taking a QB at 5 would be reaching for potential when it's not needed.

You just want them to draft a QB for some reason, and I'm pretty sure it's at least 65% so you can say that you were right

I've always enjoyed the draft, and even though my frat bros in the war room would never tell me anything, sometimes 10 seconds before
a pick, they send me some freaky, cryptic text lol. WSU Phi Kaps can be so cute sometimes lol.

I have no idea how this frenzy is going to play out, but my gut tells me they are trading back at #5, unless something perfect falls to them there.

 Good one! I've thought about this for awhile, is it because I want to be right? When that dawned on me, is when I conceded that Will Anderson overall would be the best choice overall. I'm even on the fence about taking Witherspoon or Gonzalez over one of the four QB's. But with Richardson and Levis I just see two QB's who were in shit programs with no talent around them. You plug them into Ohio St. or Alabama programs and systems and they could potentially both be going 1st overall.

So it's not because I want to be right as much as I believe that Pete could mold one of them into a franchise altering QB.

What I would like is after investigating all the issues involved with Carter they felt confident they could mold him into a great NFL nose tackle. That would be the ideal pick

This will purely come down to whether John Schneider has found a QB he ‘has to have’ with this rare top-five pick. If not, then they’ll wait until next year. Having thoroughly studied the top quarterbacks in this draft, I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t like the top four or five. They appear factory built for Schneider’s preferences — strong arm, the ability to throw on the run, mobility, creativity and leadership.

It’s possible he has his eye on someone for next year but without the extra stock they have in this draft, it likely won’t be Caleb Williams or Drake Maye. It could be someone like Michael Penix Jr. I just think banking on him remaining attractive in 2024, healthy and most importantly available is a risk too far. You pass on the 2023 quarterbacks only if they don’t float your boat. If you like one of them, you take them. Either way, I’ve said all along we should back Schneider’s judgement. He has money in the bank at quarterback. If he likes the group or not, takes one or not, it shouldn’t be overly critiqued.

Guessing his agent coached him up to say all the right things. Question is if he was smart enough to memorize his lines and parrot them back out and PC and JS and if they bought it.

I'm sure you're right, but I don't know how much he can do to help his cause. The deciding factor I think is whether or not he's lazy and uncoachable, and that info would hinge greatly on those rumors about how his teammates and coaches hated him. One thing about Pete is he maintains relationships with college coaches as well as anybody in the league, so he'll get the real scoop.

I hope it's all bullshit that we've been fed and he ends up being a game changer on our d-line. My fear is that we take somebody else, and he turns into a beast for some other team at a position we need more than any other. Risky? Yes. But other than Will Anderson, I don't see ANYBODY at #5 that could have even close to as big an impact. QB of the future sounds good on paper, but I want somebody that will help the team now, and I'm 99.4% sure none of the incoming rookies will be better than Geno this year.

interesting tidbit on NFL Network just now. Reporter I don't know said she spoke to Drew Rosenhaus (Carter's agent), and he said both JS and PC expressed concerns and had a lot of questions for him.

What this means is anybody's guess - especially since we don't know if he answered those questions adequately - but they wouldn't have concerns if he wasn't on their board.

I will personally never understand how easily people are discounting the QB discussion.

Even if you ride with Geno – and he maintains his level of productivity – how many years does that get you? How does Geno’s track record + waiting for a 40% snap player with serious character concerns to adapt to NFL life take you to the promised land in the next 2-3 seasons?

The Eagles just paid Jalen Hurts $255m. The Seahawks brilliantly negotiated a fantastic contract with Geno that allows them the opportunity to take a QB at 5 and not have to throw them to the NFL wolves.

Even if Carter didn’t have all those gigantic red flags, I’d still be thinking they need to go QB and at worst we’d settle for Carter if they don’t get the one they want.

Starting NFL QBs older than Geno:

Aaron Rodgers – unicorn re-starting life with the Jets
Andy Dalton – journeyman in Carolina will be obsolete by mid-2023
Kirk Cousins – 13-4 last year but it might be 2023 or bust
Matt Stafford – SB champ but battered by injuries
Russell Wilson – trying to re-establish himself after a disaster 2022

Honestly – do the Seahawks have a window of 2 years to build everything else up around Geno? And can he outperform those top 5’s best couple years in that time frame?

And Richardson’s only 20 frickin years old. 20!
Bryce Young 21
CJ Stroud 21
Levis 23
Hooker 25

I’d say the reason people are discounting the QB discussion is because they think the Hawks’ championship window has already opened, and that the 2023 draft therefore must be committed to plugging 2023 holes. Draft for need, draft for need, draft for need! (Because this has worked so well in the past.) They bought the fool’s gold that was the 2022 season and now demand $2,000 an ounce spot. They argue there are many ways to get a franchise quarterback these days: just trade for one, or draft Caleb Williams next year—no prob!
