hehe Uwazurike suspended for gambling on NFL

Post by SeattleAddict » Mon Jul 24, 2023 10:58 pm

yeah, pretty sure he's the guy they drafted with the throw-in draft pick we gave up in the Russ trade.

Suspended 'indefinitely' but it's at least a year.

That trade just continues to tilt in our favor.

The bigger take away, is that there is a growing number of players being suspended indefinitely for gambling. why are folks not addressing this? Players are betting on games - players with inside knowledge. This just seems like the tip of the iceberg - imagine how much more prevelant it is than we are being led to believe. NFL doing the usual "nothing to see here" damage control - while actively encouraging, and profiting handsomely from, gambling.

Nah, nothing to see here.

Seems to be a good way to increase the average IQ of NFL players. They are educating them about what they can't do and then suspending the idiots.

Not sure what else can be done when dealing with idiots.

There is no difference than my company or any publicly traded company trying to get Wall St. to invest in the company but not allowing employees to trade on insider info.

The hypocrisy is completely astounding. Certain groups of people in certain fields are held to a certain standard.

But politics? Where insider trading and the exploitation of insider knowledge for gain is not a concern. It's standard practice.

They just have enough power to make sure they don't get in trouble.

What gets me is the stupidity. I understand there were a couple of guys that made what would have been legal bets in their hotel or whatever, which violated the rules in a weird way... understandable mistake. But betting on NFL games seems like such an obvious and easy thing to avoid. That's just stupid. You have a million dollar job that will on average last a couple years, and you risk it for a bet??

Thankfully so far (knock on wood), it seems the Seahawks organization has done a better job of educating its players.

Reminds me of the excuses after PEDs suspensions. "I didn't know, I thought it was a legal supplement!" Idiots.
