They don’t want to pay anyone, that’s the problem, they are more worried about keeping payroll down than winning and accumulating assets. Teo is good enough to be a DH and worth at least 15-20 a year. I don’t pay a penny, it’s just the stupid decisions the team makes time and again that odd keeping them from really competing.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 10:34 pmIf he accepts it, you have a player who just K'd 215 times and sucked in your home ballpark.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 10:33 pmThat’s just stupid. Def didn't want him to accept it.
Cya and good ridance.
You really wanna pay $21 million to a DH who just hit for a .740 OPS? Not me.

Too bad the MLB doesn't have the same rules as the NFL only we get a draft pick if another team hires an unathletic white guy BP coach as manager. lolDonn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 10:38 pmIt is impressive, hadn't realized, retires in 2022, the mariners hire him the beginning of 2023 as the bullpen and by the end of the season he's taking terry Franconias place with ClevelandD-train wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 9:56 pmSeattle or Bust wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 9:52 pm
I feel like just about every person who starts an M's podcast feels as though they have to all fit into the same mold as unrelentingly positive. No doubt that he's never heard or seen Steven Vogt do anything ... but if there's a overly positive post to make for engagements from the weirdos of Twitter... someone w. a podcast is sure to make it.So true. And he is not only happy he is SUPER happy. I wonder if he shared the great news with friends and family in real life so they could share the moment....

Total signal that they have a draconian hard cap on payroll again.Juliooooo wrote: ↑Mon Nov 06, 2023 10:52 pmThey don’t want to pay anyone, that’s the problem, they are more worried about keeping payroll down than winning and accumulating assets. We're on the hook for $21 million and a bat who K'd 215 times last year.
I'd much rather they spend that money elsewhere. Screw the pick.

Every other mlb team would have given Teo the QO, just never Stanton, He is the cheapest bastard in the game. He couldn’t take the chance especially with Evan and JK going to the all star game next yr. These guys are geniuses

We do it but I don't think actual GMs do it
Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League thread!
Perhaps Teo’s agent bluffed that Hernandez would accept a qualifying offer. The Mariners could have called the bluff in hopes of getting a compensatory draft pick.
Was Hernandez likely to choose to return to Seattle?

Re: Finally! Official Hot Stove League thread!
People think Stanton is going to sign a 20 million player?? Hell no.
Now they have 30 million to spend with the three strikeouts Jerry signed in the off season (or traded for).

Yep. I called it a few months ago on some thread back in June or July. I knew they wouldn't extend Teo the qualifying offer. Should they? Yes, absolutely. But it was obvious they wouldn't, that they would look at him accepting as a financial disaster.

Just put Domicrap Canzone there in Teos place.
I literally hate Stanton and Dipoto. Just crap
