Last February on its list to top Pittsburgh prospects, FanGraphs ranked outfielder Canaan Smith-Njigba 39th, three slots ahead of reliever Cody Bolton, whom the M's also acquired this offseason:

I wouldn't be surprised if MLB has worked behind the scenes to encourage teams not to sign him. I think there are people in MLB headquarters that are probably still angry that he forced them to take action on sticky stuff.

There's another issue, which is that since he was accused by the whore, two other women have apparently come forward with similar stories. But have those stories ever been published, or even investigated? How similar were they? Is this now just a case of "believe all women"?
