Wishlist for 1st basemen/DH......Vlad / Rooker / Yandy / Mountcastle in that order.
Curious, why would Baltimore trade Mountcastle?
It is said they would like to turn him and their CF Cedric Mullins into pitching.

Mountcastle is kinda in the same boat as Ty when Ty was good he was a lot better than Mountcastle is now but he always had complaints that the power was not good for a 1B. But Ty once had his OPS+ in the 120's for his career vs Mountcastle at 114 OPS+ season/career.

He does have 2.5 tears CC. and he is 27 so you might get a big year out of him.

My question is how much of an upgrade is he to Luke Raley?, Vosler, Ty Lock, and yes Ty France (113 OPS+ career) 94 OPS+ this year.

And I noted that Ty has not played in Tacoma yet. He should have took a day or two to spend with his wife and just breath, chill, and clear his head. And then go to Tacoma and feast in an EZ hitting environment and come back steaming (Kinda like what Polanco did.

Could try and combine how him with Bell
Bell was placed on waivers

Which doesn't change anything. I'm saying if you're willing to pickup the money owed to Bell you should be able to cut a better deal on Scott in terms of giving up prospects. And the Mariners could actually use help at first.

From the article
There’s just a bit under $6MM left on Bell’s deal, so the odds of him being claimed are pretty slim. The Marlins are clearly in sell mode, as they have traded controllable players like Luis Arráez and Jazz Chisholm Jr., so a rental player like Bell will undoubtedly be available. Though assuming he goes unclaimed in the coming days, the Fish will likely have to eat some of that money to facilitate a deal. Clubs like the Yankees, Astros, Mariners and others are looking for first base help and could perhaps look into buying low on Bell

Adding Vlad or Rooker would make this a darn good team.

Not many holes on the team over the next 3 years, at least, if they'd add a 1B/DH power bat now.
I think that they will need an upgrade at 3B. Maybe you get by with a platoon of Dylan Moore/Rojas, but Rojas has come back to earth a bit. I wonder what Victor Robles would cost to resign if he continues what he’s doing… The floor of the team would definitely be raised significantly with a legit 1B though
Agreed, problem is Paredes was the only upgrade available at 3B.

They need a real 1B now and the lineup looks pretty good.

We're just 1 good player away now, so my guess is Dipoto sits on his thumbs now like he always does when we're one player away.

I expect Robles to do the same however I'll ride that wave for as long as he's productive

Now that they've seen what they have in all the infielders (which isn't much), might be time to call the Giants about Matt Chapman.
