Five worst 10-pass debuts in Seahawk history
Re: Five worst 10-pass debuts in Seahawk history
I can't even read this thread because I remember all these QBs, and some of these games and memories with my family in our Kingdome 200 level season seats are still too horrifying to address for me.

I went to Hawks/Rams in Anaheim in 1988, and after Kelly Stouffer got yanked (for Jeff Kemp), my buddy said "I think Stouffer needs to go back to making TV dinners".

You also were at the minus-7 game at the Kingdome, the most inept NFL performance in not just football but all sports combined since the history of sports began in like Greece or Africa.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 6:31 amI went to Hawks/Rams in Anaheim in 1988, and after Kelly Stouffer got yanked (for Jeff Kemp), my buddy said "I think Stouffer needs to go back to making TV dinners".

How about 1992, I have memories of Cortez and Bill Wyman but I seem to have blocked any memory of the offense. I don't think the QB performance could have been very productive that season

Different eras. Back in the days when defenses could mug the WRs, things were different. Name a QB that dropped back as many times as Sam did on Sunday and looked as bad or worse in the last ten or so years. It was epically bad, and when the guy before him was far better? I just have a hard time blaming those around him. The guy was incompetent. No other words for it.
Joe Namath was a hero back in the day, shit, John Elway's numbers pale in comparison to guys today. Howell doesn't belong, he made that incredibly clear. It isn't a coincidence that the Hawks are rushing Geno back from an injury that sidelined him. There has never been a controversy here, an Sam showed us very clearly why that is. It's not because Geno is fantastic either.

I wasn't trying to make a debate out of it. Just curious to
reminisce. Seemed like a pretty nutty season. Nothing to do with this season

I'm not sure why anyone would expect much from the QB that led the league in both INTs and Sacks last year. That was also behinnd a terrible o line and perhaps with just average protection he might look like a legit NFL starting QB, but he ain't getting that here.

Expectations were a function of JS trading for him. JS gave up value for himSibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 5:06 pmI'm not sure why anyone would expect much from the QB that led the league in both INTs and Sacks last year. "He had a great day against us this past fall," Schneider told Seattle Sports 710-AM. "He's a quarterback but he's really a football player. That's what I love about him. Really tough, young. He's 23 years old and has 18 starts in the league already. He's the same age as like [Jayden] Daniels from LSU and [Spencer] Rattler and [Michael] Penix [Jr.], and he's a year younger than Bo Nix.
"We were just really excited to be able to acquire him. We know he's a serious dude. He's into it, he works his tail off. We got great reviews on him and we loved him coming out of college. So yeah, we're happy to get him in the mix. Geno's the guy and Sam will be backing him up."

And then I went to the next home game against the Aints, Zorn had the best game of his career, and the Hawks won in a blowout. In fact, the offense was outstanding that season and that was probably the flukiest game of all time.maoling wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 7:16 amYou also were at the minus-7 game at the Kingdome, the most inept NFL performance in not just football but all sports combined since the history of sports began in like Greece or Africa.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Thu Dec 19, 2024 6:31 amI went to Hawks/Rams in Anaheim in 1988, and after Kelly Stouffer got yanked (for Jeff Kemp), my buddy said "I think Stouffer needs to go back to making TV dinners".
