I went to Hawks/Rams in Anaheim in 1988, and after Kelly Stouffer got yanked (for Jeff Kemp), my buddy said "I think Stouffer needs to go back to making TV dinners".
You also were at the minus-7 game at the Kingdome, the most inept NFL performance in not just football but all sports combined since the history of sports began in like Greece or Africa.
And then I went to the next home game against the Aints, Zorn had the best game of his career, and the Hawks won in a blowout. In fact, the offense was outstanding that season and that was probably the flukiest game of all time.Screenshot_20241219_092835_Samsung Internet.jpg
It would be like an NBA team scoring less than 30 points in a game.

I'm not sure why anyone would expect much from the QB that led the league in both INTs and Sacks last year. That was also behinnd a terrible o line and perhaps with just average protection he might look like a legit NFL starting QB, but he ain't getting that here.
Expectations were a function of JS trading for him. JS gave up value for him

"He had a great day against us this past fall," Schneider told Seattle Sports 710-AM. "He's a quarterback but he's really a football player. That's what I love about him. Really tough, young. He's 23 years old and has 18 starts in the league already. He's the same age as like [Jayden] Daniels from LSU and [Spencer] Rattler and [Michael] Penix [Jr.], and he's a year younger than Bo Nix.

"We were just really excited to be able to acquire him. We know he's a serious dude. He's into it, he works his tail off. We got great reviews on him and we loved him coming out of college. So yeah, we're happy to get him in the mix. Geno's the guy and Sam will be backing him up."
They didn't give up that much...
The Seahawks are sending one of their two third-round picks (No. 78 overall) and a fifth-rounder (No. 152) to Washington in exchange for Howell, a fourth-round pick (No. 102) and a sixth-round pick (No. 179).

Yep, moved down from the third round to the fourth round and from the fifth round to the sixth round....for a QB that started 17 games in one season. Wasn't much of a price to pay at all. Just sucks that when he sees the field he pisses down his leg and forgets how to play football.

Really good piece here:

Good read.

The article in summation: "Mark Schlereth is a weekly Wyman and Bob guest on Tuesdays, and he has consistently hammered home the message that the coaching on the offensive line and the play-calling has not put the offense in a position to succeed."

But when GB brought it, it was Howell who forgot how to play football. It had little to do with the coaching. ;)

Yep, Green Bay changed their entire defensive philosophy once Howell went down. Sorry, if you watched that game and thought Howell looked like he had a clue what the fuck he was doing? We'll just have to agree to disagree. The only thing that changed was the QB, and the offense went from below average to absolute trash.

No, but they sure changed their defensive approach at the line of scrimmage. And SEA was powerless to stop them. Which is where the coaching should come in. Or better personnel.

To me, Howell appeared more overwhelmed than clueless.

So, he wasn't confused, he just didn't know what to do? Got it

Dude was terrible, and Bill Walsh couldn't have coached him outta it.

Can't believe it was the same guy that was in his 2023 highlight vid.
