Overall grades for '24 season. You would think something might be amiss when the Seahawks are ranked ahead of the Packers and Bills and the Falcons are #4. But, perhaps coaching makes that big of a difference.

Note: i had to leave out the last column which was SPEC (special teams) because the full table was too wide to fit on my screen.

So, were at least pretty good at everything except for blocking and tackling.

PFF has been developing their own WAR metric...
PFF offers hope in the area of player valuation due to its unique player grades, which offer play-by-play participation and performance data for each and every player on the football field, from the quarterback to the gunner on the punt team. To take this information from how well a player performed on the field to how valuable this performance was, a player valuation model needs to incorporate a) how well the player performed b) what the player did and how important that task is to winning football games and c) how often did the player do the various things he did. Our PFF WAR model does just this. Below, we give an overview of the methodology and give some examples of what the metric can tell us.

Is it safe to say Sataoa Laumea is not the answer at RG yet?

I wonder why the team grades are so much higher than individual grades. The average is about 80 vs. mid 60s.

I was wondering about that as well but couldn't find an explanation from PFF. This is how Google's AI answered the question "why are pff overall team grades so much higher than grades for individual players and team units?"
PFF overall team grades appear higher than individual player and unit grades because a team grade takes into account the combined performance of every player on the field, considering not just individual brilliance but also consistency across the roster, whereas individual player grades only reflect that player's performance in isolation, potentially missing the impact of how their play interacts with the rest of the team on a given play or throughout the game; essentially, a team grade rewards a collective effort of solid play across multiple positions, even if no single player is performing at an elite level.

Key points to consider:

Contextual evaluation:
PFF's grading system considers the context of each play, including the player's assignment, the situation on the field, and the opponent's scheme, which can lead to a more nuanced evaluation of a team's overall performance compared to just looking at individual player grades.

Consistency over time:
A team grade reflects a consistent level of play across multiple players throughout the game and season, while an individual player's grade may fluctuate based on single plays or individual game performance.

Impact on other players:
A player might make a great individual play, but if it doesn't significantly impact the overall outcome of the play due to other factors, their grade might not reflect the positive influence they had on the team dynamic.

His run blocking grade was better than all three interior linemen and 2 of the 3 TEs.

Nice to see Lucas with a high grade but i suspect he was going up against a backup edge guy. Also, no penalties on o linemen.
