I watched a lot of football today, have watched a lot of football in my life. This might be the most inept I've ever seen. I have ZERO faith that we will have anything that looks like an NFL offense this season.
We've been let down before. NOTHING like this. Mike did a great job with this defense. For two quarters at least? This is an absolute debauchery on offense. Zero plan to get DK or K9 involved, the absolute worst O Line I've ever seen, and some of the most boneheaded player mistakes and play calling ever. Shotgun draw from inside your own one!? Grubb needs to be the only coach in the post game presser. He is so far COMPLETELY over his head.

I am far from a yes man but I can't imagine being a first time OC in the NFL making at least a million a year? And not taking direction from my boss who hired me. Now he is unemployed with the scarlet letter of being fired after one year. I guess he will have a lot of college OC job offers. Do the Cougs need one??? lol

I find that pretty hard to believe. But maybe that's what got him fired. But again, if Grubb was hired to run his offense, did MM really think THIS wasn't his offense, and did he really think we are better off running the ball more with Charbo and this Line?

The Offense was statistically better than the defense. The offense played the way their OC has always played. Mac wasn't comfortable with that. So? It was a stupid hire. He also brought in two MLBs to start the season that didn't fit his scheme. Another quick reaction to get rid of them, just like firing the OC. But why does he keep misidentifying what fits? Not one ILB, but two of them. And his very first OC gets fired for calling the game the way he has always called the game?

I really don't like stats, but when I just checked, The Seahawks scoring defense is ranked 11th.
The offense points per game rank is 18th.

Scoring was certainly not better, but I'd blame shitty execution by the QB more than I would play calling. The Rams game alone, we had ZERO chance to run the ball in the RedZone, but that doesn't give Geno free reign to turn it over twice in the RedZone when FGs would have won the game.

Seattle was 14th in total Defense
11th against the Pass
16th against the Run
23rd in yards allowed per Carry

They were 14th in Total Offense
8th in Passing
28th in Rushing
19th in Yards per Carry

Not sure what part of those stats say the Defense deserves to keep everyone on staff and you fire the OC. I also don't see what part of those numbers says "gee, if Grubb would have just called more run plays"?

I read a Fantasy Football article the other day that said Breece Hall broke seven tackles this year. SEVEN! I found that astonishing! I joked with a buddy that our backs break that many before the LOS! Breece averaged 4.2 yards per carry, but broke only seven tackles on 209 attempts.

Charbonnet average 4.2 yards per carry this year. He broke 12 tackles on 135 attempts. Five more broken tackles on 74 fewer attempts. K9 broke 13 tackles on 153 carries. Or? 6 more broken tackles on 56 fewer attempts. Imagine if our backs didn't break as many tackles as they did?

Grubb wasn't solving this rushing game, it was dogshit all year. I just don't get the logic. But oh well, over and done with now. I'm sure we will have one of the most effective run games in the NFL since we will have a new play caller. I mean, that's all it takes.

But they didn't hire him to run the offense that he ran at UW. Their mistake was in thinking he could evolve in his playcalling to fit a more balanced NFL scheme. Grubb demonstrated over and over that he was either unwilling or unable to do that. What he did with Howell vs Green Bay pretty much said it all.

They may very well have looked at his body of work and thought they could change him. But that’s the bullshit Pete used to pull. I’m not sure that made it a smart hire.

And, once again, do you think after watching us run the football against anyone not AZ, that the answer was running it more? The roster is grossly flawed, and that’s on JS and MM. much like when PC fired an OC or the Mariners fired a hitting coach, a scapegoat was assigned.

Again, he might not have been the man for the job, but I can’t wait to see the shit that wants to come here after a guy that has that success with Geno gets fired after one year.
