Wow, OK, I see it. And? I think Barner is a decent back-up but they need someone that can do it all at a high level.Michael K. wrote: ↑Sat Jan 25, 2025 4:20 pmI see a lot of Tyler Warren. Am I the only one high on AJ Barner?

Re: Thread for draft simulations:
I think there is so many impact TE's in the league, I think MM wants one too. He had one in Baltimore. Barner is solid, just not an impactful TE. He is a great 2nd. Fant will be cut He is almost a 9 mil cap savings if cut. So, we have 1 TE. I just don't think Warren will be there at 18. Love that last win against 2nd and 3rd stringers.
CUT List IMO:
Fant 8.9 mil
Lockett 17 mil
DJ Jones 16.5 m
Jenkins 5.2 million
Roy Robertson (most likely will be cut) 6.6 million
Mike Morris 1.1 mil Just a waste of space
Darkhorse cut: Nwosu 14.6 m
Oh don't forget our 2nd best dlineman in Reed is a FA too.
So many things to do. And not even close to enough money.
Depends on if Mafe gets resigned. He is on his last year I believe. If they get a DE with the 1st round pick, Nwosu will be gone. Unless DK is resigned to a lower or traded and Geno the same, there isn't enough money to sign draft pics and sing anybody as is. We are 27.2 million over the cap right now. Just with the no brainer cuts it leave us ast 28 million in cap space. Is that enough for 2 guards or a guard and center in the draft+Ernest Jones? NOPE
If FA at the guard/center + Genos pay raise if kept--there isn't enough money to sign more than 1 decent FA.
Then again watching the playoffs, we are further behind than I thought.

Re: Thread for draft simulations:
Yep. A few things about that stood out to me.
1. When the Commanders fumbled in the first quarter, I had the game on my headphones doing yard work. Ian Eagle says, "and that is the Commanders first turnover of the playoffs. In fact, the first turnover by any of the four teams remaining in the playoffs!" Can you imagine any team QB'd by Geno not committing a turnover until the CCG? Between the four teams they had played 7 games.
2. The Commanders went for it on fourth down twice in the first drive of the game and in their third drive of the game they called a fake punt. That type of play hasn't happened here since Jack Patera!
3. All four QBs are extremely dynamic playmakers that extend plays to run and extend plays to throw downfield. I don't see that in Geno.
4. The Run Game is very important, and as nice as it is to have a guy like Barkley or James Cook? The O Line is the key, and having the QB as a threat is huge.
Of course I saw things that I felt we didn't have. We are a ten win team, but I think starting over on offense with yet another play caller, having either a lame duck Geno at QB, or Sam Howell, or some rookie? We aint making the playoffs next year. Add in the salary cap Hell Gametime broke down above? Unless JS somehow changes his spots and pulls a rabbit out of his hat not only by rebuilding the O Line, but manipulating the cap? We might have a HUGE regression next year.
Will that be so bad? Word is the QB class is better next year.

That's why JS needs to use one, if not both, of their top two picks on o line. They won't have the money to sign many FAs that are good or at least average. Look how much better Barkley was behind a good o line, not to mention Henry who most people thought was about ready to retire.

The list of available free agent TEs isn't very impressive this year with Juwan Johnson of the Saints leading the way according to this ranking on PFF...
https://www.pff.com/news/nfl-2025-free- ... tight-ends
That just seems to reinforce the notion that they need to address that position in this year's draft. With that in mind i still found it difficult to land one in this latest attempt after i. kept getting gulled into value picks at othef positions of need and other teams kept drafting TEs ahead of slot so i ended up with the 8th ranked.

Re: Thread for draft simulations:
What do you all see as being the most important positions to draft at on the D side. In my horrible opinion they need a true nose tackle, more inside LBs, a safety and CB. They could use another DE and Edge but those aren't big needs.

I'm sure concerned with the O Line, I havent really given it much thought. I think in terms of impact? I'd like to see a freaky Edge player...but that's probably not happening. I've usually ended up with defensive guys as best player available when I've done the simulator.

Re: Thread for draft simulations:
Here's your freak athlete Edge guy, but you might need to trade up in the 2nd round from #50 to get him.
Princely Umanmielen
EDGE
Ole Miss
Height: 6 - 4 |
Weight: 264 lbs |
RAS: N/A
Princely Umanmielen possesses the physical tools and flashes of technical brilliance that suggest star potential. With natural bend, strength, and length, he has the traits of a disruptive pass rusher. While consistency has been elusive, his late-career surge hints at untapped upside. If he can put it all together at the next level, Umanmielen has the foundation to develop into a force on the defensive front.

I actually had my eye in him in a few if the sims. It never works out that I am in a position to grab him.
