This pisses me off. I was hoping on them making a legit play for Fries. When I saw Josh Jones last night, I watched film, checked stats and read a lot about him. The only thing I can think is that he is a depth piece, because there are reasons for him not being a starter. Pull your head out JS, bust a real move on the oline.
He replaces George Fant. Just more scraps that John collects and throws at the O Line problem. It's ridiculous. I mean, it hasn't worked for a decade, but better keep at it.
That's exactly what I thought also. Yes, an oline needs depth, but all we ever get are depth guys who get pressed into starting roles or oline by committee. Oh, Sacks Allowed Laken Tomlinson to the Texans. I wonder what scrub we will find to replace his departed scrub ass?

I'm anxious. Our oline is not all coming from the draft, where JS has shown a remarkable lack of identifying talent there. Already sick of seeing best available OLs coming off the FA board.

I think they understand they aren’t winning a Championship next year anyway, so they aren’t gonna spend cap space. I did hear they made an offer to Fries tho…so who knows?

That is probably true, but I hope it's not what they are thinking.
I'll keep saying it until proven wrong, The Defense was getting pretty damn good at the end of last year.
If they take one more step forward, they could be top five. If that happens, you win more games.

The Rams torched our defense, while sitting their starters. And go back and watch the three play 75 yard TD drive lead by non other than Sam Darnold. Sorry, the defense was mediocre. Green Bay pushed us around like we were the JV scrimmaging the Varsity!

The finger pointing at the offense is a "don't look behind the curtain" ploy by the HC who is also the DC. Neither unit was all that great. It was a minor miracle they were in contention. But that defense? Aint ready for Prime Time.

The final Rams game wasn't even a real game. More like an exhibition.
A simple google search says the Seahawks had (2024) the #14 "total defense". #11 "passing defense". #16 "rushing defense".
#11 "scoring defense". #9 "redzone defense". #10 "3rd down defense". https://www.foxsports.com/articles/nfl/ ... rush-stats
Like I said, one more step forward and they can be top 5.
First year coach last year who was just getting his shit together. Don't sleep on the defense.

We played our starters, they did not. Not sure how you draw that conclusion. I could say the same for the offense, but someone had to be scapegoated for missing the playoffs. And since it can't be aimed where it should? Squarely on the shoulders of the GM? And because the HC is the DC? They pointed the finger at the Offense, hired 67 coaches to fix the problem, and everyone in the local media is slobbering it up.

You cherry picked some stats, great. The same can be said for the offense, since they somehow were top ten in passing yards despite one of the worst O Lines ever. Jesus I'm tired of typing that. Seems like every year we say the O Line can't get worse, and then they say "hold my beer".

Seattle was 22nd against the pass and 22nd in points allowed. That cost them just as many games as a piss poor O Line and Run game did. Could the defense improve? Sure, but this idea that the defense was good and the offense was the root of all evils is silly, and it's a narrative that JS and MM need you to gobble up. Just like every damn media member has.

Shitty offense, well, we will sign a QB that is basically just a younger version of the guy we had. Media slobers.
O Line and Run game suck? We will hire a shit load of coaches and pay them a ton of money. Then find people that say it's a good idea. Media slobers.

The fact is, JS failed, and MM wasn't exactly a boy wonder on defense. That's not me saying fire his ass, but everyone acts like he did some kind of McVey type turnaround with his defense the way McVey did with the Rams offense. Didn't happen. The Defense cost us the first Rams game, the Vikings game, the Giants game and the Packers game. It's excusable, but they got DESTROYED by Detroit and Buffalo. But? Some of the shit I hear, just because MM was around some good Raven defenses, we are all of a sudden going to be the LOB again. They were damn bad against the pass last year. If AZ had a passing game? If Denver wasn't starting a rookie in his first game?

In order to cherry pick stats, I would have had to find several sources on the same topic and only share the ones I liked.
That link I shared is the first and only one I looked at.
I'd be glad to look at your cherry picked stats if you let me know where you found it.

I did Cherry pick the stats, because I only mentioned the scoring and pass defense. The run defense was actually pretty good. But maybe because teams didn't need to run? LOL

I'm not saying they won't or can't be good. I just find it hilarious how everyone buys into the narrative they want us to buy into. If the HC was an offensive guy, my guess is we'd be talking about all the new defensive coaches he is bringing in, and how the offense is on the way to glory. That's exactly what JS and MM are spoon feeding us.

I'm in no way apologizing or excusing Schneider for his No-fucks-to-give attitude about the O-line or other fuck ups.
But I am bullish on the defense. The super bowl winning team had a top defense. This current team has a ways to go to
get to the LOB, but I'm still bullish. What I'm saying is if they do reach that top level on defense, it will show in the W-L column.
The offense won't have to do as much.

The Seahawks were top ten in passing because that's pretty much all they did. If you throw enough passes you can reach a level like that but it doesn't make it a successful strategy. Passing the ball in the first place is becoming less popular these days. Last season saw the highest rushing yardage per game average in ten years. Rushing the ball is cool again. The Seahawks need to get with it, it's not some dinosaur strategy these days
