Just straight up theft of tax payer funds. Anyone who at this point trusts a democrat with our money is delusional and stupid

The money DOGE has saved is roughly around $650 to possibly be returned to each and every taxpayer. Of course, those who are complaining can always refuse their tax return! By the way, AOC used $5000 from a fund that was not to be used for personal use for dance lessons.

Isn't it remarkable that what took the Biden Administration (and every Administration since the 1970's) to embezzle or grift, hasn't been fixed in 70 days? Anyone who expects this current Administration to fix the graft in the Fed over the past 50+ years is either delusional or an idiot!

Just think of all the jobs I will be creating with my $650! This economy is going to take off like a rocket!

This windfall is after balancing the budget, right? ;)

Gil, how many taxpayers are there. One million? Two, four, eight? How about approximately 153.8 million tax returns filed in the U.S. in 2022, with about two-thirds of those returns showing some taxable income. That's roughly 102 million taxpayers with taxable income. That's a lot of money floating around to create jobs. It would take 61 individuals to create a $40,000 job. You can place your $650 in a mayonnaise jar in your back yard. Me? I'll spend mine along with the other 60K people. That would put food on the table for someone who doesn't currently have a job! Or to put it another way, why are we paying the Fed that $650? So they can give it away to projects that won't pay off inside of the next 60 to 100 years? Don't you think that all those former politicians would stop purchasing waterfront property if they really thought the seas were rising because of man made climate change?

Personally, I'd rather they take all the money they find and pay down the debt that the Biden Administration gave to us.

I get your point, but what I'm trying to say is that my $650 is a small contribution to anything. Yes, if EVERYONE who gets $650 puts it somewhere that really, truly creates jobs, fantastic! Please tell me where that is, and I'll chip in my $650 right now (maybe even twice that much!)

The federal deficits over 35 TRILLION. It's not all from Biden. George W Bush *doubled* it in 8 years, then everyone since seems to be trying to outdo him. (The Biden number was with 6 months left in his term.)

Has anybody made either claim you strawmanned?

It's just money the government was wasting that they've now saved.

Not to mention, wasn't their stated goal $5,000 to send back to people? And this $650 is just what they've already saved so far?

Looks like it's up to $1,700 savings per tax payer so far.

Do you believe I should take those numbers as gospel truth? DOGE obviously wants to prove their worth, and even 10% of what they claim is a lot of money! But I'm skeptical until I see the accounting ... after all the dust settles.

This article says that some savings have been overstated, and some weren't really saving because an expenditure that DOGE counted as a current "cut" was already cut in the Biden administration.

I don't really care how you take them.

In reality it's likely going to end up a lot higher than either number, and you'll just look like the bitter little losers that you are, crying about everything. Like usual.

It's reasonable to question the claimed savings numbers. I'm sort of broadly in favor of what Elon and Co. are doing but I doubt the savings numbers are what they claim.

Also, nobody should be under any illusion that Elon is going to balance the budget. For what it's worth, the only way to balance the budget is to address entitlements, which may not be possible until the US is actually in some sort of crisis.
