Well, I have to admit that free agency is definitely a waste here in Seattle.
Yogi May Have Been Right
Re: Yogi May Have Been Right
When was the last time, before Cal, that they actually developed a hitter?
Re: Yogi May Have Been Right
This is a .500 baseball team.
The best mediocrity money can buy. Or will buy.
Re: Yogi May Have Been Right
It can be better than that. We'll see. Like I said earlier in the thread, I think it's mostly up to Julio. If he has another season like last year, the team will win something like 85 games. If he kicks it up to the next level, then we're in 90+ territory.
Re: Yogi May Have Been Right
Pure waste of the best starting rotation in baseball. Basically, "sustainability" in the words of this organization means "mediocrity." They are happy to "sustain" around 85 - 90 wins per year. No need for any more than that. No need to go into the playoffs unless they get hit with faith, luck, and pixie dust!
Re: Yogi May Have Been Right
He put up 4.3 WAR last season. I don't see him putting up 9-10 WAR but that would be amazing. We haven't had a superstar this century.

I think his biggest issue is approach. It's hard to watch his ABs and not get pissed off. He's a veteran now with close to 2000 plate appearances in the majors, and yet he still flails away at pitches way outside the zone. Where's the professional hitter?D-train wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 7:17 pmHe put up 4.3 WAR last season. I don't see him putting up 9-10 WAR but that would be amazing. The M's need to bring in a hitting coach like Edgar Martinez to mentor him. He surely would listen to Edgar I would think.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 7:44 pmI think his biggest issue is approach. It's hard to watch his ABs and not get pissed off. Yep, but they will turn a profit once again, and be thrilled with it, once again. Until there is like an absolute revolution against it, mass exodus of fans? It won't matter. They have a big shiny ballpark that apathetic Seattleites love to go to and hang out and not watch baseball. They'll never feel it in the pocket books, so it'll never matter.ddraig wrote: ↑Mon Mar 31, 2025 6:14 pmPure waste of the best starting rotation in baseball.
