Grading the Draft
Re: Grading the Draft
Crazy thing is the house in Wenatchee is only 4 minutes from MichaelK's place!

What did you think of the Ouzts pick? Couldn't JS have waited until round 7?Sexymarinersfan wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 9:43 pmSeahawks land 6 prospects in the Top 150 list(all in the 108). Tory Horton #73!!

Heck, he projected as a UDFA, that being said, I don't see it as that big a deal, be curious to hear the explanation

Rob Saton
On day three they found so much value. I can only judge based on my horizontal board — which is published long before any of these players were selected by the Seahawks. I had Rylie Mills as a third round pick due to injury (he was a second rounder before that). They got him in round five. I had Tory Horton as a fringe second rounder or third rounder. They got him in round five. I had Bryce Cabeldue in round three based on the fact he was the fourth most explosive offensive lineman in the draft. They got him in round six. I had Damien Martinez in round four. He was a seventh round pick. I had Ricky White III in round five purely based on his testing profile (he was excellent on tape). They got him in round seven also.
This is a home-run class by John Schneider. It’s a group littered with leadership, high-upside athleticism, talent and starter potential.
We’ve often talked about the need for a transformational draft to elevate the Seahawks to the next level. This could be it.
Re: Grading the Draft
I finally remember who Martinez is. He killed the Dawgs in 2023. Was he injured last season?

Re: Grading the Draft
From field gulls, interesting relative to other NFC West teams
USA Today - B+, 12th overall
The other NFC West teams were all ranked 20th or worse.
Pro Football Focus - A
They particularly liked the Tory Horton and Damien Martinez picks, calling Martinez their 80th ranked player taken at 223.
CBS Sports - A, while giving 49ers a C
This one was utter chaos. The first two sentences called John Schneider “quietly one of the best in the business when it comes to the draft” followed by the potential of Grey Zabel “an All-Pro Center”.
Sports Illustrated - A, with the Niners a D
Their favorite pick was Nick Emmanwori.
Pro Football Network, B+, while the 49ers got a D+

Yeah, I wasn't a big fan. I know of a few who are. And maybe the Hawks know something we don't.Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Sun Apr 27, 2025 10:26 pmWhat did you think of the Ouzts pick? Re: Grading the Draft
I believe they view him as a fit in MM and kubiaks 12 personnel scheme, perhaps even more so as a TE - fullback combination. I think they also like him as a special teams player. I think maybe there was some kind of a run on TEs, they felt compelled to grab him at that point

Drafts should be graded 3 years later.
