FWIW Baseball Trade Values assigns Jarred Kelenic a surplus value of $1.6 million and Cole Young a surplus value of $22.2 million.

Still, given their outfield needs, the Mariners could take a flier on Kelenic at the right cost ... say, Donovan Solano or Trent Thorton.

Remember the photo of Kelenic, Cal Raleigh, Julio Rodriguez and Logan Gilbert at Gilbert's wedding? Perhaps they're still friends.

Or not. ;)

Cole has no future as a 3rd baseman. Kelenic may still be fixable (with the new coaches) and brings the D in the outfield where the Ms are shorthanded.
The guy is a clown and not fixable. He had these coaches last year and didn’t get fixed

They could store him in a locker until they need a late game defensive replacement then bring him out and he would probably put up more WAR than Cole ever will in the majors.

Didn't realize Edgar worked for the Braves last year.

Really, because a lot of people (here) seem to think Cole has no chance of ever doing anything in the majors. But if he currently has that much value trade him for something that can help the big league team now.

I would offer a trade for Kelenic in return for a cursed monkey paw, a VHS copy of Waterworld, and a raccoon with a gambling problem — because honestly, the raccoon might have better plate discipline.

Trading for Jared Kelenic is like digging your car out of a ditch, rebuilding the engine from scratch, and then—just as you're about to drive off safely—handing the keys back to the guy who drove it into the ditch blindfolded and drunk while blasting Nickelback and shouting, “Trust the process!”

This would be the baseball equivalent of re-buying the scratchy sweater you donated to Goodwill last year. Unless Kelenic shows up with a new swing and a therapist, this move feels less like a savvy front office decision and more like baseball Stockholm syndrome.
