Sometimes you can shuffle the deck chairs on the ship and it still goes down. BUT...... in this case I totally agree Ford and Young should not do worse than the three deplorables, with at least a 50/50 shot one of Ford/Young gives the team a needed boost!!
I could agree with the Ford and Young moves because they are red-hot and that confidence can be carried up sometimes: Marlow in years gone by, Rivas this year, etc.

An alternative would be to have Harry Ford headline a package to get Washington’s SS CJ Abram’s! He has 38 games played this year with 19 XBH, 9/11 SB and a 155 OPS+ and 3.5 years of club control. I would be willing to push a push a package that is sub-Soto level but still had 3-4 top 100s. Would you be willing to go something like: Ford, Felnin, Farmelo, Sloan, Morales as a package?
FUCK NO! The needed additions are here IN HOUSE! This is no time to get ahead of ourselves. You've got Robles and Raley on their ways back. Ford and Young are legit talents in their own right. Why do we think they won't produce what a mid-level vet via trade would? Trust in those kids and we'll be rewarded yr over yr for the next 10 yrs.

If the M's are to start moving prospects, I'm OK with parting a few out of the middle infield surplus.

Cole Young, Colt Emerson, Milkar Perez, Ben Williamson, Brock Rodden can all go. In the OF, Dom Canzone, Tai Peete, Charlie Pagliarni (sp?) are expendable. Cs Josh Caron and Freddy Bautista are expendable.

For me the guys to hold onto are Felnin Celesten, Laz Montes, Harry Ford and Michael Arroyo. They are untouchable for me. And trading Cole Young, Colt Emerson ... you sure as shit better be getting cost controlled real talent back. Those are legit pieces. Both young as shit and nearly ready to go, especially Young. He's a solid line drive hitter that we can use now. I'd rather just deal Dylan Moore. Some team will no doubt see him as an asset for 2-3 yrs.

Most other teams will be looking to fleece JD. He's better be on his toes around the trade deadline and do a little fleecing himself.
Perez, Rodden, Pagliarini, Bautista are all very low return prospects. Canzone? You'd probably get a poor return for. Your core four I'd tend to agree with, but Cole and Colts may still become solid major leaguers. Ben may or may not become a long-term 3B solution, but he has more value to the M's that to most other teams. Give him time (yeah, we've heard that before).

I don't know why because I purposely left him out of the trade mix, but forgot to put Johnny Farmelo in the untouchable group. That's 5 guys I'm not moving.

Here's a typical, recent, found-under-a-mossy-rock Dipoto move we probably all missed:

Team Date Transaction
Seattle Mariners 05/13/25 Seattle Mariners signed free agent OF Tomo Otosaka to a minor league contract.

He just has some intriguing numbers. He'll probably flame out quickly, but his OBP and OPS is exciting, even if he attained them on lower levels, foreign soil and indie leagues. Just an interesting guy to watch out of the corner of the eye. He'll probably amount to nothing but, Hey, might be a good story in his signing.

Ford, Young, Locklear all playing for Tacoma tonight. Nobody scratched.

Young btw, has a homer. Ford on base 2 more times

Leadoff hitter, 2nd baseman Samad Taylor, went 4 for 5 with a dbl. and tpl. OPS is .957, highest on the Rainiers.
Group effort on the mound. 4 pitchers combined on a 1-hit shutout. RH Sauryn Lao started, pitched 4 innings of no-hit ball and k'd 5, Next time M's want to bring up Lawrence, I'd bring up Lao instead for the spot start.

Lao was a dodgers prospect, who was an infielder. He converted to pitching 3 years ago, and has done OK, but pretty much all in relief. He’s got something going right for him right now. He’s slowly working up and I think yesterday was his first time over 3 innings. It will be interesting to see where he progresses.

I'm afraid Jerry will limp into the trade deadline where it's an all out bidding war and do something low key. He has the resources to be proactive and beat some of those teams to the punch . . . those same teams willing to consistently outbid us. But as they say, "The check is in the mail".

Laz scores from 1st on a ball that doesn't even come close to the warning track.
