Mid-Season Prospect Update: Who you got?

1. Emerson
2. Montez
3. Arroyo
4. Ford
* Anderson Scouting grades: Fastball: 60 | Curveball: 55 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 60 | Control: 55 | Overall: 60
5. Farmelo
6. Celesten
7. Evans (may be graduated)
8. Young (may be graduated)
9. Sloan
* Luke Stevenson Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 50 | Run: 55 | Arm: 50 | Field: 55 | Overall: 50
* Cameron Appenzeller Scouting grades: Fastball: 55 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 50 | Control: 50 | Overall: 50
* Nick Becker Scouting grades: Hit: 55 | Power: 50 | Run: 55 | Arm: 50 | Field: 55 | Overall: 50
10. Cijntje
11. Williamson (may be graduated)
* Yorger Bautista Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 60 | Run: 60 | Arm: 65 | Field: 55 | Overall: 45
12. Garcia
13. Pete
14. Vargas
15. Rodden
16. *Korbyn Dickerson Scouting grades: Hit: 50 | Power: 50 | Run: 60 | Arm: 50 | Field: 55 | Overall: 45
17. Phillips
18. Locklear
19. Morales
20. *Juan Burgos
21. *Hunter Cranton Scouting grades: Fastball: 70 | Slider: 55 | Control: 45 | Overall: 40
22. *Marcelo Perez
23. * Brock Moore Scouting grades: Fastball: 65 | Slider: 55 | Changeup: 40 | Control: 40 | Overall: 40
24. Troy Taylor He had a 1-ish ERA across A+,AA and now he sucks. I thought he was going to be the next home grown stud in the pen :?

10 new top 29 prosects 5 from the draft 1 from the latest IFA Bautista and I am tempted to call all those loud scores another 50 overall. But we did add 4 scores of 50 or more to our 9 that we had already. The last 4 are performing either really well like Burgos and Perez or have really big fastballs like Brock and Hunter. (I forgot about Troy)

Out of the top 21
Jeter Martinez
Dawel Joseph

I shocked my self when I made this list. I thought I was just going just slot in Anderson at 2 and peg the other 4 somewhere after Pete. But on Anderson he is shut down for the year and looking at Laz destroying AA in a notorious pitchers park to a tune of 1.024 OPS, Arroyo is doing almost as well with a .953 OPS but he is a 2B :shock: Ford is 22 a freakish athlete for a catcher position and has an .850 OPS at the age of 22 and could be in MLB at anytime.

For that reason, the 21-year-old Kade Anderson is slotted 5th in my initial ranking.

We might be overly enthusiastic about Anderson, he might be the best pitcher in this draft but its not considered a very good draft. He doesn't project as a number one. Doyle has him two behind Emerson. If he is only a three, its still a very successful pick

listening to Doyle

Farmelo and Sloan are the untouchables, not because they are necessarily going to be great, but you can't tell yet what they are.

Julio is still trying to figure out what sort of player he's going to be, he needs to pick a lane, his indecision is hurting the team

He says its interesting listening to Peterson, he's 100% catcher, there's not going to be any talk of another position. He started every LSU baseball game at catcher as a true freshman. The Mariners were surprised he was still there.

Not bad thoughts. A lefty that sits 92 to 94 and can touch 9697 with really good secondary sounds to me more like a number two and there is a little bit of room to grow velocity. But yeah, that’s why I’ve got them listed as fifth and I almost ranked for Farmellow ahead of them.

lol Anderson is not a 3 unless it's because he's behind Woo and Kirby his entire career, but stuff wise he's a solid 1.

Idk how you put Cole Young behind Logan Evans? That right there makes me ignore your entire ranking because you clearly don't know shit

he doesn't really, its more projecting him to get there. For one thing, he's like 6'2" and 179 lb. He needs to fill out

Evans has a 97 ERA+ > Young has a 92 OPS+

After watching a lot of minor league ball the last 3 months, I'd go with this:

Colt Emerson
Kaden Anderson
Laz Montes
Cole Young
Michael Arroyo
Johnny Farmelo
Harry Ford
Felnin Celesten
Ryan Sloan
Much of this group is very interchangeable. There's still plenty to discover about Farmelo, Celesten, Anderson and Emerson in particular. Montes gets bumped down slightly for being less athletic than the guys ahead of him. I think this group of 9 is as deep and talented as the Mariners have ever had in their pipeline. I could easily see this time next season having Sloan or Celesten in the 1 spot.

Jurrangelo Cijntje
Yorger Batista
Walter Ford
Tai Peete
Brandyn Garcia
Tyler Locklear
This group is also full of talent but still perhaps more in the raw category. Cijntje is the most polished but still working on the left handed side and moreso the org working to figure out how they are going to use him.

Luis Suisbel
Michael Morales
Hunter Cranton
Brock Rodden
Luke Stevenson
Nick Becker
Juan Burgos
Josh Caron
Freddy Bautista

I was confused by your list at 1st I have kind of my top 12 vs your top 9 and I was like who is he missing? It's the 2nd rounder, and then the other two 50 point prospects Becker Appenzeller, to go along with Stevensen who they sign to a 2.8M bonus. So, they have nearly all of the 750K they saved on Anderson left to play with.

Rank player slot signing bonus
#2. Anderson slot 9.5M signed 8.75
#31 Stevensen slot 2.75M signed 2.8M
#51 Becker slot 1.64M (???????????????????)
#58 Appenzeller slot 150K (????????????????)
#83 Dickerson slot 461K (?????????????)

They went over slot on #14 Rd. pick by 80k so 750K-85= 655K
They can go over bonus pool by 5% so that is another 853,720$
Appenzeller has 150K slot

I think they both sign for 2 M so we gotta come up with another 700K. Sign Peters and Hugus for about 1/2 their slot value and there you are.

Where would you slot the other top 4 prospects from the draft?

I don't have a reasonable idea as to where they'd go. Appenzeller is not signing. Stevenson and Hugus probably slide somewhere in the 14-20 range
