Again I'd be curious what Cleveland would want for JRam.

JRam has a full no-trade clause. He'd have to wave it.HawkandMariner88 wrote: ↑Wed Jul 23, 2025 11:50 pmAgain I'd be curious what Cleveland would want for JRam.
That's one big obstacle... the other, the insane compensation.
Re: Final Trade Deadline Plan
You can get Solano off the team by simply promoting Locklear. Solano has a .630 OPS and only plays about 1/3 of the time. Ben has a .600 OPS and has played almost 90% of the time. Geno has well over a .900 OPS and would be a massive upgrade over Ben. Naylor is redundant with Raley because can't hit lefties either and he is a slug that costs the D Backs the game today with his D. I would be ok if they got both but they have said the Geno is the number 1 target and amazingly they are correct this time.seattlefan-daBronx wrote: ↑Wed Jul 23, 2025 3:10 pmThis is why I'd rather have Naylor in a trade if push comes to shove than Geno if you can't get both in a deal.
JUST TO GET SOLANO OFF THIS ROSTER.

Re: Final Trade Deadline Plan
The biggest flaw in the plan though is the fatal flaw in the biggest move. Maybe you didn't see this but D Backs want near term Good pitching prospects. Hancock is neither.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Sat Jul 19, 2025 8:14 pmMariners trade OF Jared Sunderstrom, 3B Luis Suisbel, Util Dylan Moore to the White Sox for OF Luis Robert Jr. and RHP Steven Wilson
Sunderstrom is a 24 yo with a .708 OPS in AA. Suisbel is 22 yo with a .765 OPS in A ball. Dylan Moore has had 2 hits in the past two months. Robert been on fire this month, and has been very good since early June. So two guys with a 5% and 10% chance to make the Bigs and a guy that should be out of baseball. I don't think this gets it done.
M's Rationale: The M's trade for Robert Jr. as a pure rental to platoon in right field with Canzone and come in as a pinch hitter against lefty relievers/base runnner/defensive specialist if he's not starting vs righties. I've looked up and down the league for players who mash lefties and Robert is the only pure rental who might be available. You might laugh at acquiring him, but the guy has a 163 wRC+ against left handed pitching this year. Aside from mashing lefties, Robert is a stud base runner, fielder, and already has 23 stolen bags on the year. Getting Robert in house can also help them evaluate if they would like to offer a deal to have him back. Steven Wilson is having a career year... pitching to a 2.15 ERA over 29 innings and is controlled for the next 2 seasons. He throws from a very similar arm angle to Paul Sewald and has a very similar pitch mix. The M's add him to shore up some of their middle relief.
White Sox Rationale: It's not what the Sox wanted to do with Robert heading into the year, but they have no choice. They are not picking up his $20M club options the next 2 seasons and need to move him to recoup any value at all. In acquiring Sunderstrom and Suisbel, they add players who will slot 10-20 in their system to a farm that is sorely lacking in position players. Dylan Moore gives them an outfielder to replace Robert for the remainder of the year as his contract expires.
Imagine being D Backs fans hearing for well over a month from every national baseball analyst and writer that they were going to get an absolute haul for Geno despite him being a Rental. At least 5 teams will be involved in the Auction including the New York Yankees and Chicago Cubs. And since it was first reported he might be on the block has gone on an absolute HR tear including hitting more HRs in 3 games as Ben has hit in his ENTIRE 900+ PA Pro Career.
And the return is a 1B that has good AAA stats this season but totally flopped when he was promoted to Seattle, a 19 yo kid hitting .217 with a .677 OPS running 35% K rate in A ball and a total bust of a 1st round pick with an ERA of 5.47 and negative WAR for both this season and his career.
Hazen would be drawn and quartered at second base during the 7th inning stretch. He would just hold onto Geno and give him a QO if this was the best offer. Also see the linked article at the bottom of the post
Mariners trade 1B Tyler Locklear, SS/OF Tai Peete, RHP Emerson Hancock to the Diamondbacks for 3B Eugenio Suarez
M's Rationale: Simple. The M's reunion with Suarez is tailor made. The M's need an offensive upgrade at 3B and Saurez does that in a big way. The move allows the M's to move Williamson back down to the minors where he can further develop some pop and see if he's ready to start for them in '26. He is the monster bat they need to push this offense forward.
Diamondbacks Rationale: The Dbacks are sure to move on from Naylor, so Locklear slots right in as the future at 1B for them. A fringe top-100 prospect, Locklear has tapped into more power of late and is again putting up very respectable numbers in the minors. Moving Geno also allows them to call up top prospect Jordan Lawler and slot him in at 3rd, giving them a young, controlled infield. The Dbacks need to improve the back end of their rotation and Hancock gives them a legit 5 with no. 4 upside. Peete, a former 1st round pick, is the wildcard of this trade and gives a boost to a middling farm system where Lawler is about to graduate.
Even this one seems unlikely Morales is struggling in AA with a 4.58 ERA and a 1.52 WHIP. Burgos was lights out in AA and ok in a tiny sample in MLB. I guess if the Twins like Burgos and see him as a replacement for Danny it could work.
Mariners trade RHP Michael Morales, RHP Juan Burgos to the Twins for LHP Danny Coloumbe
M's Rationale: They need to add another shutdown, high level reliever. Coloumbe has been awesome this year, pitching to a 0.68 ERA and 0.938 WHIP over 27 innings.
Twins Rationale: Since they likely aren't figuring on playoff spot in '25, they move Coloumbe as he's a pure rental for some young, controlled arms to a farm that needs to add more pitching depth. Burgos can slot right into their bullpen today or they can further develop him... he's got some nice upside.
Roster:
1. JP Crawford SS
2. Julio Rodriguez CF
3. Cal Raleigh C
4. Randy Arozarena LF
5. Eugenio Suarez 3B
6. Jorge Polanco DH
7. Dom Canzone/Luis Robert RF
8. Luke Raley/Mitch Garver 1B
9. Cole Young 2B
Bench: Garver C/1B, Robert OF/DH, Miles Mastruboner Util
Some roster explanations:
1B: I have been searching far and wide for an answer at 1B to platoon alongside Luke Raley. There is almost nothing available, but the answer might have been under my nose the entire time. Mitch Garver hit for an .886 OPS in June, mostly against LHP. He's now up to a 115 wRC+ against lefties on the season and he could easily slot into playing 1B on days where lefties start instead of DHing where those duties can be assumed by Polanco, Robert, what have you. Solano is a likely DFA under this plan as he's cold again and his inability to hit lefties hurts this team.
RF: As explained earlier, Robert is the perfect platoon partner in right for Canzone and offers a ton more with his defense and base running late in games.
I am DFAing Casey Legumina and Donovan Solano off the roster. I am optioning Ben Williamson to AAA and potentially adding him as a September call up so he can experience the playoff push.
Pitching Staff:
1. Bryan Woo
2. Logan Gilbert
3. George Kirby
4. Luis Castillo
5. Logan Evans/Bryce Miller (whoever)
CL: Andres Munoz
HL: Matt Brash, Gabe Spierer, Danny Coloumbe
ML: Steven Wilson, Carlos Vargas, Eduard Bazardo, Trent Thornton

Re: Final Trade Deadline Plan
I am sure the D Backs are asking for Jurangelo and Jerry won't do that so Geno will be a Cub. Cubs have plenty of top 100 prospects and their current 3B is a clone of Ben.

Fans would burn down the stadium if they traded Jram, that stadium would burn wouldn't it? In any event, if they were to trade him which they won't it be to the Yankees, not the MarinersSeattle or Bust wrote: ↑Thu Jul 24, 2025 12:38 amJRam has a full no-trade clause. “Outbid by the Mets for Suarez, a desperate Cashman swallows hard and sends a big package, including Spencer Jones, to get a difference-maker at third base in Ramirez, the Guardians’ perennial All-Star,” SNY MLB insider Jon Harper wrote in a predictions piece today.
Re: Final Trade Deadline Plan
So I think we are going to get Eugenio. The Astros are now 5 -up on us because they beat the DBacks in the 1st 2 of their series. The DBacks are now 5.5 back in the WC but they have to over take 4 teams that are not in the WC 2 that are 3.5 back and 2 that are 2.5 back. But the WC teams +19,+14, and +9 over .500. Az in now 2 under .500. They have a lot of pitching out Puk, Montgomery, and Burns’s are out and SHelby Miller is out but Miller will be back soon and has a 1.7 BWAR and a 216 ERA+ on the year. He has a 100 ERA+ career but peak seasons as a reliever include a 253 ERA+ in 2013 and as high as a 127 ERA+ as a starter back in a 4.2 WAR 33 start 2015.
Tea leaves: SHelby demonstrates that he is healthy and good and the M’s send Harry Ford as the headliner with a good package for both Saurez and Shelby. It has been going around that they want pitching so maybe Sloan and Garcia?

Top 50 prospect for a two month rental, impressive

That would be a disaster. Hopefully you're wrong.Pharmabro wrote: ↑Thu Jul 24, 2025 4:31 amSo I think we are going to get Eugenio.
