Naylor
Re: Naylor
Trade for a guy after not wanting to pay 10 million for in the offseason. Have him a full year, but trade talent instead? For 56 games instead of 150+. I Like getting him, but many wanted him in the off season. But, cheap ass organization.
Nice to get him, but just hate how this organization works.

He was traded from Cleveland to Arizona for virtually the same compensation.
Difference is, Cecconi for Cleveland has essentially had a 3 WAR/200 inning season thus far and the pitchers the M's traded have virtually no MLB experience.
Re: Naylor
My guess would be that Raley gets sent down - he's redundant right now with Naylor at 1B and Canzone at RF. You aren't going to pinch-hit him for one of those guys.

Sorry, you are correct.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Fri Jul 25, 2025 4:48 amAre you talking about Naylor?Gametime wrote: ↑Fri Jul 25, 2025 3:37 amTrade for a guy after not wanting to pay 10 million for in the offseason. Naylor has a pretty interesting offensive profile, see how he does at TMobile. Wonder if there be any interest in trying to extend him.

I hope not.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Fri Jul 25, 2025 9:14 amNaylor has a pretty interesting offensive profile, see how he does at TMobile. Wonder if there be any interest in trying to extend him.
He's a fine rental acquisition... while a career .807 OPS vs righties is good, he's been downright bad against lefties all but one year.
He represents a slight upgrade to a position the M's currently struggle with. If they don't trade Locklear, I hope he's given a chance because he's proven to hit both dexterities very well and he's far more athletic than Naylor.
Locklear has 15 homers in his last 42 games. That's insane power... you don't trade that for skittles.

I just don't have much respect for Tacoma numbers

Re: Naylor
I'm not sure how any prospect is going to overcome your lack of respect then.
How about his Arkansas numbers where he hit .291/.401/.532/.933 in what is supposedly a dystopian hell hole for hitters?
Bottom line is he's a career .895 OPS hitter in the minors. Not sure what else the kid is supposed to do.
He's reduced his K rates this year. Walks at a very good clip. Has added power since making adjustments in his setup.
If that hasn't earned him a look, idk what does.

Re: Naylor
Yeah, I saw that, lowered his hands didn't he? Hes been transformed since June 11th. So wouldn't that make the previous numbers kinda mute? I was thinking he could have developed from the player that was exposed his previous call up. I could see them not wanting to hurry, let him get comfortable with the new mechanics before subjecting him to ML pitching again, we shall see
