A.I. will of course tell us how good he is.
Here’s what Pirates fans have been saying online about Caleb Ferguson—especially now that he’s been traded to the Mariners:
Fan Reactions on Twitter & Forums
- “Solid pickup for Seattle. Ferguson was sneaky good for us.” – A common sentiment among Pirates fans who appreciated his consistency.
- “Wish we’d kept him. Guy never gave up a homer and always kept us in games.” – Reflects admiration for his reliability under pressure.
- “Low strikeouts but elite contact suppression. Underrated weapon.” – Fans who dig into analytics really liked his soft-contact profile.
- “Not flashy, but he did his job. Hope we get something decent back.” – A pragmatic take, especially with the trade for prospect Jeter Martinez.
- “He was one of the few bright spots in our bullpen this year.” – Suggests he earned trust in a shaky relief corps.
Trade Sentiment
- The trade to Seattle was met with mixed emotions. Some fans are excited about the return of Jeter Martinez, a 19-year-old pitching prospect ranked No. 13 in the Mariners system.
- Others feel Ferguson could’ve helped more down the stretch, especially with his 3.74 ERA and 34 strikeouts over 43.1 innings.

Solid pickup. We needed another Lefty and he is way better than whoever you consider to be our 4th best arm in the bullpen at the moment. He doesn't have super high K numbers but he's not a "soft tosser" He averages 94.1 on his fastball. He is an extreme ground ball pitcher. He's only given up one home run on the year and his ground ball percentage is 50.4%
Basically got him for Free. Jeter Martinez has an ERA over 6 in Low A ball.

Solid pickup, and for a guy who'll probably never even make it to the bigs. This will eliminate one of the bums from our bullpen.
