really, okay...I have always been a fan of that 2014-2015 KC bullpen. It be pretty unbelievable to create something like thatCaptain 97 wrote: ↑Mon Jul 28, 2025 10:46 pmIt feels to me like it would take more than Ford and Evans to get that done. BTV has Evans valued at 10.4 Ford at 19.4 while Both Duran and Jax are over 25 a piece.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Jul 28, 2025 5:12 pmWhat you think, lock down the last four innings, the suggestion is Ford and Evans. I think I'm doing it, that makes the mariners an actual WS possibility and Ford is blocked. And you could afford to still add another bat. If the Twins are looking to rebuild Ford could be hard to pass up
With the eighth and ninth innings solidified, rational thinking may be that the Mariners add a middle reliever on the cheap and focus most of their attention on the offense. Yet with some big relief names potentially up for grabs this deadline season, the Mariners have reason to swing big, particularly if the Minnesota Twins make flamethrowers Jhoan Duran and Griffin Jax available. Duran has been his usual dominant self with a 1.86 ERA and 16 saves, while Jax has rebounded from a rough opening month to post a 2.43 ERA over his last 37 innings, which includes a dominant 58-10 strikeout-to-walk ratio.

Re: Reliever Trade Targets
Even without Castro I'd think I'd still take the Jax & Duran combo. That dominant of a lefty in the pen, sign me up & Duran is electric. The problem I have is while teams have the relief option we need, they don't have that 3b combo we could pair it with including TB with Fairbanks & Pittsburgh with Bednar. Although in fairness if you wanted to inquire about the availability or Cruz I can't see the harm in doing that. I doubt they'd move him, I'm just under the impression that Pittsburgh don't like to pay their guys hence why you make that call. The other option I'd look at if you really wanted to shake some heads I'd see what Cleveland would want for JRam. Aside from the full trade why wouldn't he wanna come here, he absolutely crushes our division, plays a premium position not to mention yet another switch hitter. Now to combine that with Cade Smith, now your talking. It all depends on the offer, if you wanna not only win that division but possibly contend for a pennant dare I say even a World Series, you make the strongest offer you've ever made anybody & that may include giving up a Laz potentially. If our farm is that deep & that good you could afford to part with a few guys. Don't know what Cleveland would want but again doesn't hurt to ask.

My first thought on Ramirez was that there is no way the M's would take on his salary but I looked it up and his contract isn't two outlandish. 3 more years for 69 Million. He is getting a little long in the tooth at 32 years old and it would cost a ton Emerson and at least one of your other top 100 guys is the starting point.

Do I win a prize or something?Captain 97 wrote: ↑Sun Jul 27, 2025 4:54 amHere is a list of pitchers that will be free agents after this year who are on teams that could likely sell that are among the top 100 reklievers in FIP.
R Phil Maton Stl 2.49
R Justin Topa Minn 2.70
R Pete Fairbanks TB 2.93
R Shelby Miller AZ 3.12
L Caleb Ferguson Pit 3.19
L Jalen Beeks AZ 3.70
R Kyle Finnegan Wash 3.74
Other than Munoz 2.27, Brash, 2.82 and Speier 2.60, everyone currently in the M's bullpen has an FIP over 4.
There are a bunch of interseting guys who have control remaining that are getting into Arbitration and will probably be available as well. Seems like we ought to be able to pick up a couple of relievers fairly easily.

At this rate I'm throwing the kitchen sink at Cleveland & Minny. I give them my top 10 list I tell them pick the best 3-6 not kidding. I wanna freaking win. Kwan may not have the power you covet but his bat to ball skills are crazy & Beiber could surprise you never know. At this point what have you got to lose. As for Minny, you could slot Ryan right in between Gilbert & Kirby & have yourself a formidable trio. Him & Jax would be awesome additions. It's just hard when your offense doesn't provide you with much support. I'm just curious who's on JRams no trade list.
Re: Reliever Trade Targets
I have seen 2 different perspectives on this.
1. Geno is sill theee focus
2. There is a pivot to maybe paying top dollar for for Duran and Jax from Minny. But what if it was both. Minny is said to want 2 top 100s for Duran and Jax.
Fine: Give me one of Jax 206, or Duran 211 ERA+, and Coulombe 367 ERA+ . I'd give you 2 top 100's plus some filler. Coulombe is having a great year but he is good but not great player. He has only played 50 innings twice in 1 years and only has a bit over 5 WAR for his career. He is a free agent so you will have to outbid everyone for him and I had him as an option for my offseason plans. How many more wins would Seattle have if Speier was our 2nd best lefty. I think 1.6 WAR = 2 wins, but BP WAR is discounted so I think if we had another stud BP lefty, we have 4 or 5 more wins on the season.
MLB trade calc has
Jax :
Coulombe: 0.9M
Duran: 25.2 M
Jax 25.7M
