Twins are tearing it down but they didn't move Joe Ryan. Mariners should get involved with that in the offseason.

I'm pretty amazed how quickly people have moved on from Bryce Miller.

He's basically free and a top 40 starter in the league when healthy.

Miller's 3.4 bWAR '24 is higher than any of Ryan's seasons until this year.

Good points. Miller is younger too and is pretty much all upside.

It looks to me like Jerry was determined not to give up a primo prospect or we could have picked up a difference maker from the Twins. With our propensity for low scoring games I hope we don’t get bit in the ass
yeah, i was rooting for another lockdown reliever to cement the BP. The Twins traded for Eduardo Tait so Ford would have seemed to have been in play for them. That's probably Dombrowski as opposed to Dipoto, Dave has never been afraid to move a prospect
And Jerry has always been petrified of Possibly sacrificing being Good in the future in order to be great NOW.

I can't do that. I can watch and have an interest in another team, especially in the playoffs since my team is usually out of it. But I can't just decide to be a fan of another team because the people who own my team suck. My guess is you and I are from different Eras. If that was the case? There is no way I could still be a Seahawk or Mariner fan. Too many lean years in the 80s and 90s between those two organizations for me to still have been around when the Hawks finally went to a Super Bowl and then later finally won one. No way I would have still been an M's fan in 95 when I hung on pins and needles during every game. Many on the radio because they weren't all televised.
I'm from the era of Spike Owen, Alvin Davis, Harold Reynolds, and Jim Presley with Langston on the mound. I'm from the era of Steve "bye-bye" Balboni.

I used to watch a lot more Mariners games, but all sports I watch a lot less now and mostly post season / playoffs. But aside from watching Ms games there's the general day-to-day, check the box score and follow along. I still do that. After these trade deadline pickups my interest is definitely up. I might watch tonight for Geno's debut. I guess that is about to start very soon.

I will follow the Ms more closely when they're winning games, but I'm not ever going to gripe about the owner not spending enough money. That's just silly to me. Nobody is forcing you to be a Mariners fan. You could switch allegiance to the Dodgers if high payroll is your thing. Then you can stop bitching about payroll and just enjoy baseball.

I've always kind of given him the benefit of the doubt, and after canning Servais even more benefit of the doubt. I assumed when he didn't make a big FA acquisition that he was planning ahead. Whatever. We got something interesting now! Geno! Geno! Geno!

You calling me bandwagon you post too soon I just referenced Steve Bye Bye Balboni.

I remember Chuck Cottier and Jim Lefebvre. Spike Owen, Alvin Davis, Harold Reynolds.

Dave Valle. Mark Langston. Jim Presley.

I remember being scared when the yellow ship popped up in the Kingdome and blasted cannon shots into my little kid ears.

I wish I could watch other teams and be engaged with what's going on. I feel like that's a real shortcoming of mine as a baseball fan.

From the horses mouth

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nz1IoE694WE

He said they were in the chase on other parts of the needs. SP, OF, and BP. And he thought he had gotten the frame work pretty much finalized before the other club pivoted.

From the sounds of it JD called on Duran and was told Ford & Evans or Sloan. At least if you read between the lines.

He also said Miller should be back soon and Robles was doing some drills on the field before the game.
