Resign Geno for 2 years with the plan to transition him to 1B

Sorry Cursor hit the report button vs Quote. I hadn't thought about switching him to 1B from 3B. I think I might stick with Raley but heck maybe a full offseason of ork and Raley could be the 3B

Celestin has been slow and steady. He’s hitting .239 with a .730 OPS,. Only 5 HR, but I expect that to get better with time. He does seem to be a lot better against lefties despite fewer AB. 3 if his 5 HR and OPS .100 points higher. I always wonder with guys that have a better right hand swing off it’s worth then switch hitting because that’s 75 % of your AB. Either way, he’s having a very good season and looking forward to see how he finishes. I’d expect him to stay in Modesto and jump to Everett next season

I’d keep them where they are for now, but just plan on moving Geno over if Emerson ends up ready to play 3B in late 2026 or 2027.

Offseason definitely gonna be interesting with guys like Emerson knocking on the door. I mean outside of offering Geno a 1 year + option, what else can you do. Definitely not thinking long term with Geno so maybe 2 year deal but even that might seem like too much. We'll see what Geno wants. Emerson & Arroyo definitely coming into camp with something to prove.

So are they going to resign JP? Just wondering why you are moving Emerson to 3B which lowers his value fairly significantly.

I thought that he had more than next year on his contract, although I wouldn’t be surprised if he was resigned. Plus I think Celestin is more likely to play SS in the future.

JPs D has been bad this season. Emerson has got a lot of praise for his. I would be surprised if they move him to 3B because of 32 yo JP.

Not sure where you got .239. Celesten hasn't slipped below .275 all season.

I think there's actually a good chance they look to move JP this winter. He's been that bad defensively and he's probably going to make overtures about needing an extension and you better believe the M's don't want to have to dance around that all year. That could fuck up the clubhouse mood.

No, I would sell JP by December. Move Young to SS for the time being and then Colt takes over when he's ready to roll. It has the added benefit of opening up 2B for Arroyo until Emerson arrives.
