Victor Robles Rehab Assignment
How much can Robles can help the club down the stretch and into the post season? He started his rehab assignment today for Tacoma. He doubled in his first AB.
Remember when Griffey made a spectacular catch and broke his wrist?
Robles had an .860 OPS in 77 games with the Ms last year with 30 SBs.
What do you guys think? Robles gonna make a big impact? He's signed through 2027.
How does Robles defense compare to Canzone? Robles is better right? He's faster.
I think it will be interesting to see how it goes for him. I'm assuming he's working hard to try and be a part of this team.

RRS said that the reason they keep some guys on the team is for chemistry or some crap like that. I remember him saying something to that effect a couple days ago. Why keep someone who performs poorly just because their a nice person or their good for morale. I want winners period. You don't win awards & rings for being nice you win by performing at your best, period.

They pinch hit for him and he was DH. That doesn't seem too good. First AB was a double, though. Second plate appearance was HBP and the third was a 9 or 10 pitch groundout that I was following on the MILB GameDay app.

Re: Victor Robles Rehab Assignment
I’m uncertain, but curious.
I’ve heard it said that guys are never the same after an injury like that - a healed dislocated shoulder isn’t going to be as stable an arm fixed with Tommy John.
But I also know he has gobs of potential and he’s young. At one point he was a higher rated prospect than Juan Soto.
So yeah - maybe age and potential count for something here.

What is Tommy John Surgery?
UCL reconstruction is a surgery commonly used to repair a torn ulnar collateral ligament inside the elbow by replacing it with a tendon from elsewhere in the body. The goal of the surgery is to stabilize the elbow, reduce or eliminate pain and restore stability and range of motion. This procedure was introduced and first performed by Frank Jobe, M.D., on baseball pitcher Tommy John in 1974—hence the colloquial name Tommy John surgery.
Basically, Tommy John Surgery is to repair an elbow, not a shoulder. But I do agree with you....... a surgically repaired shoulder is better than one that is only rehabbed.

I don't think he was saying that Tommy John is for the elbow, more comparing the healing process and the after effects.

Shoulders are more problematic than elbows with pitchers, thinking Danny Hultzen. Its getting to be its almost expected a pitcher will eventually get TJ surgery but a shoulder injury can be the end of a career. I don't know if that's as true for position players.
Re: Victor Robles Rehab Assignment
Michael is correct - I was not suggesting that Tommy John surgery was a procedure used to fix or repair shoulders. I was simply pointing out that the surgical repair of an elbow has a greater chance of success in terms of getting back to 100%, and has a lower risk of re-injuring the joint than rehabbing a dislocated shoulder does.Walla Walla Dawg II wrote: ↑Wed Aug 13, 2025 3:57 pmWhat is Tommy John Surgery?

But if your point is that comparing elbows to shoulders, is an apples to oranges comparison, then I agree.
