That was a really bad lineup. And why is Moore still in the team for the love of god. Defense? Oh how about that error lol.

The difference between the best manager in baseball and the worst one is realistically three to five games in the standings, and even that might be a little generous. It's possible that last night Wilson might have accounted for a game in the standings by playing Moore instead of Canzone.
We thought JK was a head case, Moore not only can barely make contact, but he's dropped two fly balls in the last week and he's carrying himself like someone who's scared to death to be out there.

This Harry Ford will sit on the bench bullshit is getting old…. You don’t want to start his clock fine. But you need a rested Cal and he and Harry can easily DH to keep Harry sharp. Garver is a pitiful excuse for a ball player and I don’t care if Harry comes up and struggles. It can’t be worse that Garver at this point

They could have kept Williamson here. I realize shit like options, wanting him to play every...stuff like that. But for crying out loud, you are in a pennant chase. Last night Williamson could have played 3rd and Geno DHs. Then Garver is no where near a baseball field. He is 1 for his last 19 or some shit like that and Dilly has two hits since mid May. So? We play them both!? Neither should be on the roster, and we play them both the day after we creep into a tie for the Division lead. Way to build on the positive momentum.Coeurd’Alene J wrote: ↑Thu Aug 14, 2025 2:50 pmThis Harry Ford will sit on the bench bullshit is getting old…. You don’t want to start his clock fine. Gilbert threw 79 pitches? Maybe let him work through it...I don't know. I realize in today's age their arm falls off and they need Tommie John if they throw 100 pitches in a ball game, but fuck. The guy had given up 2 hits through six and we can't let him work out of things in the 7th? I don't think there is one person with any knowledge of baseball that looks at a batting order with Garver at 6 and Moore at 9 and believes we are scoring a ton of runs. And low and behold...those two went 0 for 6 with 3 strikeouts and some shitty defense. Fantastic.
Garver should be here to Catch one day a week, and maybe on that day we should let the Pitcher hit and DH for him!? Only half joking. Moore, longest tenured Mariner or not...great guy or not...he needs DFA'd. There may be a team out there that can let him play late inning defense and pinch run, but he shouldn't be here costing this team games. Not in a Pennant Race.

They didn't seem to waste much time moving on from Leody Taveras. And that seemed a function of a muffed outfield play. I was rather impressed with that, offensive struggles are kinda a given but defense doesn't get the same patience. Moore has a longer history, could it be a clubhouse thing? I can feel the eyes race rolling but I think players are sensitive to their teammates getting cut.DavidGee24 wrote: ↑Thu Aug 14, 2025 2:05 pmThe difference between the best manager in baseball and the worst one is realistically three to five games in the standings, and even that might be a little generous. Maybe Gilberts shoulder felt a little sore, who knows, we really don't know. Before a pitcher wouldn't complain about a sore shoulder for fear of being seen as a wimp. I'm going to guess there was some kind of a conversation, either with Gilbert or with Cal. Yeah things are more conservative these days but there's reasons for that.Michael K. wrote: ↑Thu Aug 14, 2025 3:15 pmThey could have kept Williamson here. Or? Dan and this organization are panzies and think their Pitchers are too. I'd say it's a toss up over why they took him out, either overly cautious or Gilbert was "sore". If he is? Then we are in a bit of trouble. Sorry, but these guys are so fucking soft. Ryan, Clemens, Johnson, you name it...non of them are coming out of that game without the Manager walking away bloody. These guys are more than happy to go sit in the dugout and watch the bullpen continue the free fall. I don't think that was the case though. I think Dan is just like every other manager out there right now, and it's easier to err on the side of caution and lose the game than have to answer to why he left him out there. He threw less than 80 fucking pitches. Jeez.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Aug 14, 2025 4:42 pmMaybe Gilberts shoulder felt a little sore, who knows, we really don't know. I told Divish to grow a pair and ask Dan wtf was he thinking with Garver at DH and Moore in the lineup. He got pissed and said Dan wouldn't give straight answer so why ask him. This was my response. The first part in quotes is what another guy in my X chat said.
Exactly! Make them sweat and question why after a great trade deadline and an 8 game winning streak that allows you to finally scratch and claw you way back into 1st place after blowing it in June do you put your two worst hitters in the lineup just for the fuck of it.
That is what kills me about them. They just can't stay out of their own why the ALWAYS have to fuck around and last night they found out AGAIN. I just never ends. They never EVER learn. So damn Maddening.
I get what Divish is saying re Dan not actually answering the questions, but it’s still your job to ask him the questions, man. I have LOTS of patients who are non-compliant and will cuss me out and tell me they aren’t listening to me and will leave against medical advice. Doesn’t mean I can just be like “well, I already know how this person will respond, no point in trying.” Na, it’s still my job to try.

I think that the reason they took Gilbert out is because he tends to totally cave in at that point. The Oriholes broadcasters showed a graphic with opposing batting averages against Gilbert the first, second and third trips through the lineup. First trip was about .140, second trip about .200, third trip over .310, and we've seen what Gilbert does at that point in the game too many times. Speier has been money, he just wasn't last night and of course D-Mo was the Oriholes' MVP.Michael K. wrote: ↑Thu Aug 14, 2025 5:11 pmOr?
