My plan at this point-
My plan at this point-
Skubal, Arraez, Moncada
I think we need Skubal more than maybe any other frontrunning contender. He's a real difference maker.
Skubal
Woo
Kirby
Gilbert
Castillo
Miller (maybe you trade one, maybe they all graduate a step when Skubal leaves at the end of the season for the Yankees)
DH- Luis Arraez
Julio
Cal
Naylor
Arozarena
Canzone/Robles
3B- Yoan Moncada
Crawford
Bliss (or rookie)
That team would be fighting it out with the Dodgers in the World Series.
Moncada played well when he was on the field last season. He put up a 118 and 117 wRC+ the past two seasons. Almost 20% better than the average bat. Almost exactly the same as Brendan Donovan without giving up any prospects.
We have backup options at 3B. He's exactly the kind of guy you put in front of a Williamson who hasn't exactly earned a red carpet opening back to the big leagues.
Made the case for Arraez on the other thread. No brainer imo. Arraez and Moncada you dont even have to give up prospects for...

Re: My plan at this point-
This is Luis Arraez's career so far compared to Ichiro from 2001-2010.

Arraez is garbage. Dude has an OPS+ of 103 over the last 2 seasons and you want to run him out at DH?
Yandy is the man for DH.

I just think there is a 0% chance it's the M's who trade for Skubal. They wouldn't do it unless they believe they could sign him to an extension and given what it will take, there's no way they're committing the $40+M AAV it would take.
Recent rumors are that the M's are in on Donovan, Marte, Murakami, Romero.
My preference is a trade for Donovan + Romero and signing Murakami to DH/be insurance at 3B.

Re: My plan at this point-
I've always liked the idea of bringing in Luis Arraez. WAR doesn't like him much because of positional limitations, lack of defensive value, and lack of power, but he's a great contact hitter and my feeling is that the metrics value that skill less than they should.

Daniel Kramee is throwing cold water on Ketel. Arizona wants MLB starting pitching. M's won't trade any. Plus Marte us owed $91 over 5-yrs and just paid Naylor. I don't think they'll want to commit those dollars to him as cheap as our front office is or trade one of our current Major League starters.Seattle or Bust wrote: ↑Mon Dec 15, 2025 6:05 pmI just think there is a 0% chance it's the M's who trade for Skubal. Re: My plan at this point-
I'd take Yandy at DH, but he's even less useful than Arraez in the field and the chances of Dipoto getting a guy that's just a DH are next to nothing imo.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 15, 2025 4:02 pmArraez is garbage. Dude has an OPS+ of 103 over the last 2 seasons and you want to run him out at DH?

Arraez is garbage? His numbers at the plate mirror Ichiro's 2001-2010 numbers almost exactly and he's the same age as Cal Raleigh while Yandy is going to be as old as Garver was last season...

Moncada was just with 24 W-Sox and the 25 Angels. If he was a good guy to have on your team wouldn't 2 of the worst franchises have kept him as a + bat?bpj wrote: ↑Mon Dec 15, 2025 10:36 amSkubal, Arraez, Moncada

He's a free agent, he probably won't sign with them, thats why they don't bring him back.Bil522 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 15, 2025 10:07 pmMoncada was just with 24 W-Sox and the 25 Angels. All I'm saying is I think given what else is available, and the cost, both Arraez and Moncada are upgrades that are readily available and we're a team that needs a few upgrades.
