Luckily Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril might disagree with you.

Re: Seahawks' Free Agents and Offseason Tracker
They weren't big ticket items. I think JS has tended away from large FA contract targets. Bennett was one year $4.8mil, Avril was two years $13mil. He signed a couple this last off season with Lawrence and Darnold. He does look to resign his players. It's kinda the approach dipoto seems to follow isn't itMichael K. wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 1:28 pmLuckily Michael Bennett and Cliff Avril might disagree with you.

Here is a Seaside Joe article, he calls JS the mirror image of PC, this last off season did involve spending, there was Kupp as well. Joe attributes the previous approach to Pete, so maybe JS will spend more in FA going into the future

Re: Seahawks' Free Agents and Offseason Tracker
They were the two best pass rushers on the market and we needed pass rushers. As was mentioned, we needed a WR, went after Kupp. Imagine this team without Darnold and Lawrence? They tried to sign a Guard this off season but he refused to take the physical. Probably a little bit of a red flag right there.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 2:10 pm

In the NFL, I don't think you can look at what JS has done and just say "he doesn't go after FAs" He addresses needs, sure as shit. Often times it's in the form of trades, but I don't know that giving up draft capital is always the way to go. Sheldon Richardson, Percy Harvin, Marshawn Lynch, Jimmy Graham, Jamal Adams, Duane Brown, Ernest Jones.....all guys he felt we needed so he went after.
Has he often times signed FAs? No, but my guess is it wasn't some engrained fear of FAs, it was not having the player he wanted at a position of need.

Am I the only one that read the entire article to have it end like this?Donn Beach wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 2:29 pmHere is a Seaside Joe article, he calls JS the mirror image of PC, this last off season did involve spending, there was Kupp as well. WTF?The Seahawks entered 2024 with only about $7 million in cap space remaining and then they were able to roll about $8 million over into 2025. Do you know how much Seattle enters 2025 with? It’s this number:
Re: Seahawks' Free Agents and Offseason Tracker
Seattle has a pretty big cap space avail - but most of it will get used on resigning our own guys. I think they have the most in the league - due to great management. But, now, it's gonna go quick. I doubt they are really active in free agency - at least at the top of the food chain - maaaaaybe the Baltimore center if he can be had on a good deal.
I am really curious who is retained and who is gone - and what we get in the draft. If we get just 1-2 starters who are upgrades - and retain the roster core - this team could be even better next year. If Kubiak stays and has another year with The Darnold - this offense could be very, very formidable. Defense needs a couple upgrades - on the line. The future looks really bright.
Anyone nervous about the Patriots?

This pretty Damn cool especially for someone that hasn't played organized football since Jr. High.

Yeah, I meant he didn't go after expensive FAs. I didn't think Hendrickson or Linderbaum would be typical targets but with this last off season maybe that's wrong. Yeah, there was Aaron Banks too? I saw him listed as a possible cap casualty BTW. Maybe he's on the market againMichael K. wrote: ↑Thu Jan 29, 2026 3:30 pmThey were the two best pass rushers on the market and we needed pass rushers.
