Yeah, that's right. The latest Seattle census just landed and it added one Lombardi to the mix!
Man, that feels good.
But also, not a particularly great game, let'ds be real. Nothing like the high of curb stomping the Lambs and Chardonnay Nation. Yeah, this is awesome, the biggest prize, but it still wasn't as satisfying as that streak of 4 wins in a row over them. BONUS! Hoisting the trophy in Santa Clara amid the salty, bitter tears of niner nation, all 11 of them.
But wait, there's more! Next year, SB XLI will be played right down here in Sofi - we can plant the flag here too! Who's house? Seahawks House! Oh GOD that would be so so so so satisfying!
While The Darnold didn't have an eye popping game, stat-wise, and was off target a few times, he was rather masterful in the pocket, constantly sidestepping pressure, moving around comfortably amid some fierce blitz packages - and no turnovers - only one sack - even had a great run for a big first down. Huge, Jerry, huge. No, the dream scenario of MVP didn't materialize - he didn't need to win the game - that defense and special teams - did it - yeah I'm looking at you Michael Dickson and Jason Myers - they came up huge.
The stat sheet was pretty even, but this game never really felt in doubt. I was telling friends all week, when they were asking my prediction, I kept coming back to the strangest feeling aht this was just a team of destiny - on paper we are better everywhere over NE - but on any given Sunday, right? But, this run still felt destined - not something I would ever think, but I kept coming back to it. To take the opening kick off and march right now the field - shit, that was tight. I wanted TD's, but that FG right before half time - I felt pretty good.
K9 did exactly what we thought he would do - and now the lustre is kinda off Charbonnet - because now we know, that when K9 is THE guy, he really is THE guy. Yeah, need Charbs back, but this stretch run was K9's time to shine - and he shined brightly. Thank god! Now, what is his asking price?
Man o man, that defense was suffocating. Hey, Drake, now you know how we do it in the NFCW - 'mkay? You're a big fish in a small pond - now go back to that pond before you get sacked again. Six sacks in the SB! You think our oline is a weak link? Puh-lease! Sit down, Bradford, no one talking to you. Maye looked flustered all night - like he knew he was in over his head. You could tell Vrabel had no ansers - and he knew it. By the third quarter they new the execution was imminent. Been a minute since we've seen a game settle this early - kinda like 48, am I right??
Now on to free agency - who to keep? Who to let go? How do we improve offensively? How the F is our new OC gonna be? Sucks that Darnold will have yet another new face. What they could have done together in yearn two - I was looking forward to that. But, alas. We have Macdonald and shit's gonna be aiiight.
How about that half time show? For all the 'buzz' it was pretty underwhelming - if it was in English, would it have been overwhelming? Just whelming? Dunno, butn it was a pretty big yawn for me - I did really dig the 70's Ford pick up - that was pretty sick. Apparently Kid Rock and Friends did an alternate show - which is actually a really good idea. Didn't see it - generally not into halftime shows - although I did like last year's with Kendrick Lamar. DId you all know he's the actual "Lamar" from Revenge of the Nerds? Yeah, no.
Kids, we got us a bright, shiny Lombardi, I guess we 'exorcised them demons' from the SB we shall not name. While it was mildly entertaining, very little drama (my blood pressure thanks you!), as I said, it felt like destiny - just no way anything or enyone was getting in the way.
Maybe that's what M.O.B is - willing this to happen. Really happy for the vets - imagine how bitter Cowboy fans are? Makes me smile. Also, planting the flag on Ninernation's field? Priceless. Just feels a little extra, amiright?
This season felt like a list of boxes methodically getting checked off. The SB was just another box - and I think most of America is celebrating with Seattle - no one, and I mean no one was pulling for NE. I even know a couple from Boston who hate Kraft so much they were pulling for the Seahawks. Um, you're fucking welcome, America!
Let's see what the off season has in store.
GO HAWKS!
