Super Bowl halftime show

Post by DavidGee24 » Mon Feb 09, 2026 9:08 pm

Remember when the NFL would announce that Prince/U2/The Rolling Stones/Michael Jackson/Tom Petty/U2/Lady Gaga/Usher, etc. would be performing and pretty much everyone would go, "Hey, cool"?

Now we've got acts that are booked just to please the woke crowd and piss off Trumpers, who naturally take the bait. It's stupid and is not what music is supposed to be about. Music is supposed to unify, not divide.

Hopefully next year they'll finally book Foo Fighters which is so long overdue. The best rock band over the last 30 years with an impressive catalog and no political agenda. I don't think that many people would be against this.

As for the music itself, I watched both halftime shows and although I was impressed by Brantley Gilbert whom I'd never even heard of, most of the music was generic and boring. I'm guessing that with Bad Bunny a lot of his success is image-related, kind of like Madonna back in her day. And I'm not knocking the guy either, he didn't do anything that seemed controversial and it was a solid production.

By the way, I wonder if this thread will conclude like most of them do, with Seattle Or Bust having a meltdown and then getting served a nice tall glass of shut-up juice.

I am going to be positive and just say hot Latinas dancing in a seductive fashion is never a bad thing. Bad Bunny should not be Man's nickname.

I saw where Trump got in a dither about it. I mean, it's dance music and that's how it's always presented.

I agree what you said that music is supposed to unify, not divide. I'd didn't see anything divisive in his performance.

Any maybe THIS thread can remain civil. Maybe we should have a separate threat and use that for the predictable insults, name calling, straw-manning (can I make that a verb?) etc. It would be nice not to have the same thing playing out on most of the politics threads.

Yeah, some of the dancing was pretty sexy. Which I guess means someone is going to object. Too bad.

To his credit, you're right, he wasn't divisive and neither was Green Day from what I saw. It was more of a predisposition based on their reputation and the intent of the bookers, "Let's piss off the Trumpers". Thankfully, for those 15 minutes he just did his thing.

Exactly, if anybody gets an exemption from deportation- it's the big booty latinas.

I'd be surprised if anybody who watched how many of these low IQ pituitary cases kneeled with Kaeperbitch were surprised to see this halftime show.

Steven Van Zandt of The E Street Band had an interesting take on the show, he said that it's one thing for a show to be inclusive of Latinos, but that this show went beyond that and was exclusively for Latinos. Surprising to hear this from Springsteen's sidekick.

Interesting. I read that he (Little Steven) thought there should have been subtitles. Him making that point and concluding it was "exclusively for Latinos" seems a bit of a stretch (in a couple of ways) to me.
