Do you really think he was iced because he opposes policies? I'd suspect there are thousands in that category! :) I'd say it was because of his popularity. I think he was the most streamed artist in the world in 2025. And I hear all the time that the NFL is trying to get more of a global presence, especially in Latin America.
That's all fine and dandy, but why would they pick someone that they knew would turn off a lot of people? I mean, you pick Usher, just about everyone likes that. You pick Rhiannon, just about everyone likes that. You pick latinas J-Lo and Shakira, just about everyone likes that. Even the old-school rappers, a lot of people at first went oh really those old farts, and then we ended up getting a damn good show with no political BS other than Eminem kneeling and people laughing at him because he apparently forgot what year it was.

What did the NFL think, that Bad Bunny was going to go out there like Freddie Mercury at Live-Aid and win over the entire world on the first note?
The NFL picked Bad Bunny because he had the no. 1 album in the US last year. They picked him because he's immensely popular and his presence was going to draw ratings to the halftime show outside of NFL fandom.

The NFL does not care that a bunch of hypocrites who site "fuck your feelings" as their no. 1 credo are a bunch of melting snowflakes.

I get what you are saying. Do you think that the only entertainment should be people who have never criticized anyone or anything? The political stuff associated with Bad Bunny certainly wasn't in this show.
Makes you wonder what went on behind the scenes. The NFL suits probably told Bad Bunny hey, we're catching all kinds of shit here, do you think you could go out there and just do your show? Here's an extra big bag full of money to help you think about it.

You literally just said this in reply to someone who expressed admiration for Usher, Rhiannon, J-Lo, Shakira, Eminem, Dr. Dre, Snoop Dogg and Mary K. Blige. Not exactly a bunch of Pat Boone/Perry Como-types there.

Typical straw man argument from Seattle Or Bust. You've got Ray Bolger turning over in his grave like a pig on a spit.

I think the problem with Bad Bunny is we can trace this deision to greed. He has a small appeal in the US and to the NFL's audience. He 'got street cred' by jumping on the low hanging fruit of "anti-ice' which will resonate in Latin American countries - which is what this is really all about - the NFL trying to sell JSN jersey's and slogans to Central and SOuth American audiences. There was a video before ther SB where they were asking the players during media day what thier fav BB song was - and the majority didn't know a single song. That is pretty much the US audience in a nutshell.

I know someone that was cast in one of his music videos - long before any of the ice nonsense - and I thought the video was pretty cringe - he was just trying to look all gangster and it was just silly. That's when my opinion of him was formed. There is nothing speciual about the music either - it's not elevated, excellent, or great musicianship - it's just mid at best.

Very good points, and most of these celebrities should be called out on grabbing the low-hanging fruit to pander to their audiences. Bad Bunny is world-famous, filthy rich, and everyone around him kisses his ass. Everything he and especially his staff do first and foremost is to promote his brand. And that's not to call him a bad guy, that's just how that world works and most people don't know any better because it's a world that we can't even begin to wrap our heads around.

And as for the music, it was just so generic and boring. I looked up where pundits had the show ranked all-time and it looks like they all followed the same formula, which was to put him in the 6-10 range to stick it to conservatives but not get greedy and put him ahead of the likes of Prince, U2, MJ, Beyonce, Lady Gaga, etc. and insult everyone's intelligence.

X is such a trip. Somebody made up a story that said the Seahawks declined to go to the White House and then Trump uninvited them. Both stories are complete BS yet of course thousands of people bought it hook line and sinker and massive arguments broke out about without a single person on either side bothering to confirm the news.

That's not surprising, the dumbest people are on X and they'll fall for anything, especially when it's political. When I used to be on there I'd start threads to mess with people, like wishing Stevie Wonder a Happy Birthday while posting a picture of Ray Charles and heaping praise on Wonder's greatest hits such as "Let's Get It On" and "Nothing From Nothing". So many oblivious people would correct me. Same thing when I claimed that Herbert Hoover invented the vacuum cleaner and James Monroe invented shock absorbers.

Excuse me. sir. Both of those songs were hits for Sly Stone. ;-)

I will not get into name calling with this post, but this is so inaccurate it's hurting my head.

The #1 album by any standards in the USA for 2025 was:
No. 1 – Taylor Swift – The Life of a Showgirl – 3,985,000 copies sold

No. 2 – Stray Kids – Karma – 585,000

No. 3 – The Weeknd – Hurry Up Tomorrow – 543,000

No. 4 – Stray Kids – Do It – 460,000

No. 5 – Sabrina Carpenter – Man’s Best Friend – 431,000

No. 6 – Sabrina Carpenter – Short n’ Sweet – 413,000

No. 7 – Kendrick Lamar – GNX – 399,000

No. 8 – Soundtrack – KPop Demon Hunters – 366,000

No. 9 – Morgan Wallen – I’m The Problem – 329,000

No. 10 – Lady Gaga – Mayhem – 292,000

I would like to ask.....Where is Bad Bunnie on this list?

If you want to say that it was weeks at #1:
Rank Artist Weeks at No. 1
1 Morgan Wallen 12
2 Taylor Swift 10
3 Bad Bunny 4
4 Playboi Carti 3
5 Kendrick Lamar 2

If you want to argue that Rolling Stones Magazine has called BB's album the best, then that is just their opinion!!

So please, stop making shit up.
