Spring Training Thread
Re: Spring Training Thread
Anderson to pitch Saturday and it is a televised game by MLB
Re: Spring Training Thread
Hollander on Brock and Salk. I really have to give Jerry props for the Donovan trade. His patience and relationships with Chaim Bloom and the Rays GM really paid off. I guess he is like Dwight in the office. LOL

Re: Spring Training Thread
Anderson on the "Mariner way", thought it was kinda interesting there being one and Anderson already buying into it. That seems like pretty good indoctrination
He was asked about going after hitters after striking out Julio Rodriguez, Cal Raleigh, Mitch Garver and Rob Refsnyder

Yeah. I think as a Mariner, that's what we do. We go right at guys, seeing what it's all about. And if you give up a hit, you go right back at them. I think that's the mentality we have.
At one point, Anderson also said he was "here to strike guys out," which should have M's fans fired up

I think that's what he's talking about, the hype. You haven't made it to the majors and the hof wants your bat? lol
Brennen Davis’ ceiling appeared limitless. After hammering a pair of home runs en route to MVP honors at the 2021 SiriusXM All-Star Futures Game, Cooperstown was already calling -- they wanted to display his bat at the National Baseball Hall of Fame

I'd be shopping Arozarena at this point..
I wouldn't bet $100 that he'd have better numbers this season at 31 years old than any of:
Robles
Raley
Davis
Julio
Canzone
There's only so many at bats to go around, and they could still get a decent return for Randy.
He had a .679 OPS in the second half. At some point you're just better off moving on from some guys.
I'd be seeing what offers we could get. Even just for a big bullpen arm? Pretty tempting.

I was kinda thinking that, but I don't think haniger took this long. I don't know a thing about Davis other than he has suffered some injuries.tehmc wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2026 3:44 amMitch Haniger 2.0?Donn Beach wrote: ↑Mon Mar 02, 2026 10:38 pmI think that's what he's talking about, the hype. Come on, Davis is a pipe dream. I don't have a problem at all with the at bats presently. What I see is finally some legitimate depth. That's what I feel has always killed dipoto's rosters in the past, lack of depth. Tired of always hearing about bad luck injuries when it's actually a lack of depth.bpj wrote: ↑Tue Mar 03, 2026 5:10 amI'd be shopping Arozarena at this point..

Actually the guy you are leaving out is Donovan. If they want both Young and Emerson on the roster Donovan could get pressed for at bats. And his at bats would have to come in the outfield. But still I'm hanging on to Arozarena's right handed bat. I'm not giving up any depth
And really I'm not concerned about the bullpen. There was really only a couple of spots at issue and it looks like they could need to make room for Hancock. There's going to be a crunch there too because of a lack of players with options.
Of course I really don't have a problem with the roster, other than how they handled backup catcher. But that's getting kind of nitpicky. Let's get spring training out of the way and get going

Speak of the devil. Here's a mock trade just posted that fixes the catching situation. It's basically about finding the Braves a pitcher. I think SI is gone in the dumpster
https://www.si.com/onsi/fantasy/trade-a ... nta-bravesAtlanta Braves receive SP Luis Castillo
Seattle Mariners receive C Sean Murphy, SP Owen Murphy
