I agree that 15 a year is a lot for Walker but 17 years seems crazy for Shahid. Yes I'd be totally fine with it if Charbs was healthy and I read that if my aunt had balls she would be my uncle. We have plenty of wide receivers and zero running backs and there doesn't seem to be any good options for a true rb1 next season but hopefully I'm wrong and the Chiefs are idiots for paying Walker and Shaheed doubles his production at wide receiver to make that contract worthwhile.Michael K. wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2026 6:34 pmSeems ironic that the guys that just turned this around in two short seasons are under fire for not paying a RB a second contract. K9 is now the 4th highest paid back in football, Shaheed now the 28th highest paid WR. And he will also return kicks, something he proved very valuable at. I HATE paying backs, and would have never even considered paying Walker this off season if Charbo was healthy. You draft backs, you don't pay them.
Barkley fell to earth in year two after the Eagles paid him.
The highest-paid receiver this year will make more than $40 million a year (Ja’Marr Chase of the Bengals at $40.25 million) while the highest-paid running back makes $20.6 million (Saquon Barkley of the Eagles).
While Walker became the fourth-highest paid running back in the NFL, Shaheed became the 28th highest-paid receiver, according to Spotrac.com, adding a dynamic return ability that helped give the Seahawks what were regarded as the best special teams in the league in 2025.
And it only cost the Seahawks about $3 million more a year to keep Shaheed instead of Walker.

btw what is our best case for RB1 and RB2 this season. I have never heard of any of these guys that might be available.

I heard that Charbonnet's acl tear was not very severe and he could possibly be ready to go by opening game. That would be your best case.

Well that is just about as likely is 1973 OJ Simpson comes back life and is our Game 1 RB. Any realistic options?Sibelius Hindemith wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2026 8:43 pmI heard that Charbonnet's acl tear was not very severe and he could possibly be ready to go by opening game. Seahawks running back Zach Charbonnet is expected to miss a significant portion of the 2026 NFL season following successful surgery in late February 2026 to repair a torn ACL. While he is not expected to participate in spring workouts and his Week 1 status is in doubt, some reports suggest a potential return in the October-November timeframe.

Key Details on Charbonnet's Injury:
Injury: Torn ACL sustained during the NFC Divisional Round against the 49ers in January 2026.
Surgery: Performed in late February 2026.
Return Timeline: ACL surgeries typically require 8-12 months for recovery, suggesting a return to play around October or November 2026.

Even If Charb was ready seems it wasn't long ago that he was considered a slug and nobody could believe he was splitting carries with Walker but now he is our best case scenario for RB1 for a team focused on being a run first team???
I guess we can run Shaheed on fly sweeps a dozen times a game.

McIntosh can carry the load along with Holani until Charb gets back then they go with the three-headed monster.

I just posted that from JS, he does have a plan and he's shown to know what he's doing. I think he's trying to explain it there though he doesn't do a very good job of it lol
Terms of Charbonnet being a slug, PFF has him rated basically even with Walker. I think JS feels rb talent is pretty flat, the ranking isn't a ladder. Walker does have an explosive quality but again Charbonnet is ranked just about as good a rb without it. Terms of it seeming odd that a run first team wouldn't pay for a bell cow rb I think maybe it's the opposite.
I think JS feels he's constructed his roster in such a way it's not needed. You're running extra TEs, you have blocking WRs, hopefully have a valuable Online. I've seen articles that argue RBs get overvalued because the team aspect gets overlooked. It doesn't surprise me JS feels this way. Its system over individual talent, see how it works.
I think he demonstrated it with how he'd go about the offensive line, and really with even the qb position, the one that's the most difficult. And it really took a coaching change rather than a system change to make it work
What I get from that is it doesn't have anything to do with the Chiefs roster decisions or about ranking which rb is better than the other. It's about building an entire roster."I hate this time of year where people are talking about, 'Well, he's not worth this, he's not worth that,'"
"We don't look at it as worth. It's, what's the guy's value for us. His value around the league, that's that; what's his value for us and how do we fit that into our budget, to keeping the whole 70 together. Having the best 53-man roster, the best 70 guys, what does that look like in totality?"
"Ranking players, this guy's better than that player, that's more for the draft, really,"

Cool so we just need to find the equivalent of Julius Jones, Eddie Lacy or Thomas Rawls. Or better yet, let's see if Penny or Procisse are ready to make come backs. lolDonn Beach wrote: ↑Tue Mar 10, 2026 10:37 pmI just posted that from JS, he does have a plan and he's shown to know what he's doing. Our RB room is a dusty broom closet and I am still waiting for a single name that could be a legit RB1 for us. Are we going to need to draft one in the first round???

Great options in the draft! LMAO
Love who will be gone and then Johan Coleman who was so MIA the second half of the season he should have been on a Milk Carton
