I see the trade-off as Donavon and refsnyder as opposed to having given Polanco $20 MIL. In terms of cost, length of contract and everything I'm pretty happy with it. It's intriguing to consider Marte, that was the issue for me, but I'm still pretty happy with things. If dipoto had passed on marte just to rely on young and Emerson then I'd been fuming

I don't think a guy like Polanco was ever really an option at $20M.Donn Beach wrote: ↑Wed Mar 11, 2026 2:30 amI see the trade-off as Donavon and refsnyder as opposed to having given Polanco $20 MIL. Since we're in GM mode, I'd have saved the $6M wasted on Refsnyder.
I would have traded Castillo and replaced him with Emerson/Miller.
I would have traded Arozarena and replaced him with Canzone/Robles/Raley.
Donovan would make a great utility player, so I'd keep him.
Then, I would have taken the $40+M I saved on those guys amd signed Arraez ($12M) to play 2B and Moncada ($6M) to play 3B and put the other $22M+ towards something that actually provides some value.
