Jason has a decent idea of talent. It’s been fun to watch Brendan. Hope he helps us. We need it

I hope he has a good season!

I wouldnt have a problem with him at all as our utility player. Even 2B.

But we lost Polanco and gained Donovan. Pretty obvious downgrade.

If spring training ended now, his 2026 OPS would be most comparable to Mitch Garver's 2025 spring training stats, just above Ben Williamson, so I won't concede I'm wrong just yet. But I do hope he proves he's more than J.P. Crawford 2.0

A lot of people seem to expect more from him, I think thats about what he is. Which, imo, given the excitement about his acquisition, would be quite a disappointment.

We'll see!

Here's a comparison of their age 25-28 seasons.

Biggest difference I see is JP played in T-Mobile so his OPS suffered like most people.

Hope I'm wrong.

The only thing Polanco does better than Donovan is hit Home Runs.

Over the Last 3 years Donovan leads in WAR, AVG, OBP, OPS, OPS+, Runs, Hits and Doubles.

Yeah Jorge had a great year with the bat last season but his career OPS+ is only 112 vs. the 134 he put up last season so I would expect regression and or injuries now that he is a year older.

That's great. We certainly wouldnt miss the "last 3 year" version of Polanco.

We need to replace the 2025 version that had a 132 wRC+ and an .821 OPS, and we still got knocked out of the playoffs.

2023 he had a 116 wRC+
2024 he had a 93 wRC+
2025 he had a 132 wRC+

His first year in Seattle he had a .651 OPS.

You're right, Donovan would have no problem replacing THAT guy.

The 2025 version of Jorge Polanco posted 2.6 fWAR (2.6 bWAR).

FanGraphs projects 2026 WAR of 2.3 in 125 games for Polanco and 3.0 in 130 games for Brendan Donovan.
