You could be right. Signing an extension in this case would be a tradeoff for him and we don't even know if he wants to stay in Seattle.

Happy to have a Gentlemen's bet on that my friend.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2026 5:56 pmIf Hancock has a solid year and Sloan and Anderson are dominating in AA, I could see them trading Gilbert this off season.D-train wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2026 5:48 pmThey aren't going to trade them if we are in contention so it will be a QO.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 01, 2026 11:14 pmSo would you look to deal them or give them qualifying offers and let them walk?

I think he would like to stay in Seattle even though he lives in Florida but not for the discount it would require.GL_Storm wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2026 6:47 pmYou could be right. Signing an extension in this case would be a tradeoff for him and we don't even know if he wants to stay in Seattle.

If I were the pitching coach for the Mariners I'd ask Logan, for one outing, to look like he cares. Maybe even scowl a bit. See what happens.

It's definitely not their strategy.D-train wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2026 6:48 pmHappy to have a Gentlemen's bet on that my friend.Captain 97 wrote: ↑Thu Apr 02, 2026 5:56 pmIf Hancock has a solid year and Sloan and Anderson are dominating in AA, I could see them trading Gilbert this off season.
They had a similar opportunity to trade Castillo with one year left, they could have even saved over $20M at the same time, and they still hung onto him.
Not their strategy, but probably should be!

How many of our guys would you say are true #1 Aces? If not their getting dealt. In my opinion you keep 2-3 (Kirby & Woo) outside of that their getting dealt or should get dealt. If you offered Gilbert + for Skubal I would do that deal tomorrow.

Sadly, the Mariners haven't had a true ace since Felix. The closest would be Castillo when he first came over from the Reds.HawkandMariner88 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 03, 2026 6:10 amHow many of our guys would you say are true #1 Aces? If not their getting dealt. Personally I think there's only about 5 "aces" in MLB.
Woo, already, easily passes as a #1, and is just entering his prime.

ESPN has an article up ranking aces, they count 11, Woo and Gilbert get honorable mention

It's rumored the dodgers could stretch out Ohtani this season. He could be in that class, wouldn't that be something
