The worst part about platooning is that even when you do it, you're usually already facing the back end of the bullpen by the time you pinch hit for them, even likely a closer who everyone hits .200 against.

Such a bad strategy. Even worse when you're like this team that supposedly needs to pinch hit for the same lineup spot (or three) in the 6th and 9th innings.

I think the president of baseball operations has enough to do that he isn't micromanaging nightly managing decisions. I think there's some delegation involved. What's happens I believe is dipoto has an analytical department that feeds information to Wilson. That was the friction with Mike Scioscia. It wasn't being told what to do as much as bothering him with a bunch of information. Wilson isn't going to be fired for platooning against left handed pitchers. He'll get fired for the same reason Servais got fired. Dipoto will decide the players need a different voice. The message itself will stay pretty much the same. I consider it pretty much the same throughout baseball. I really don't believe Wilson manages much differently than a lot of managers do these days

It seems a little odd to me they called up Joe instead of Emerson. This seemed like their opportunity. Donovan could get outfield reps
