I begged my folks to change my name to Rocky when I was 8. Nothing doing. They didn't buy in. Not that I need to clear the air with anyone here, but just in case, this was long, long before Rocky Balboa. Duh.

It's funny, how you come up with nicknames. It's like the Seinfeld episode where George wants to be called T-bone. Nicknames are a big deal in the Philippines. My son doesn't actually know his real name. You get these to me silly deals, like president Marcos being referred to by his childhood nickname Bongbong. That's certainly showing familiarity
