Penny had a great Senior Bowl performance, I'm guessing that's what did it for JS. He also was second all time in yards per attempt when he retired. It wasn't like he couldn't run against NFL opponents
So did LJ Collier....Picking a guy in the first round because what he did during practices and a practice game is the dumbest F-ing thing he has ever done in his career. So happy he is smart now. lol
L.J. Collier’s performance at the 2019 Senior Bowl was the primary catalyst for his rise into the first round of the NFL Draft. Prior to the event, he was generally projected as a mid-round pick, but he used the week in Mobile to showcase a combination of power and technical pass-rushing skills that caught the attention of scouts, particularly those from the Seattle Seahawks.

Senior Bowl HighlightsDominant Practices: Collier was consistently cited as a "winner" during the practice week. He wowed scouts with his high motor and advanced hand-fighting, frequently beating offensive tackles with a heavy bull rush and a refined spin move.Draft Stock Surge: His performance moved him from a projected fourth-round talent into a first-round selection. He was eventually drafted 29th overall by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2019 NFL Draft.

It's not like it's dampened his enthusiasm. MM there with JS and the scouting staff. MM probably wanted to keep an eye on things
MOBILE, Ala.—A year ago, on the Wednesday following the conference championship games, Mike Macdonald was named the head coach of the Seattle Seahawks, kicking off a whirlwind of an offseason as he and John Schneider put together an entire coaching staff while also trying to prepare for an upcoming draft.

This year, on the Wednesday following the conference championship games, Macdonald was at Hancock Whitney Stadium along with Schneider and the team's player personnel department watching practices for this weekend's Senior Bowl, a week-long showcase for some of the upcoming draft's top prospects.
Christian Haynes had a great Senior Bowl
he was named the top offensive lineman on the American team by DL/LB teammates. His dominant performances, including a viral block against an LSU lineman, highlighted his elite run-blocking and pass-protection skills.
