Gotta love fan trades. "Say, will you give us your borderline all-star player for these two guys we've got in the minors who probably won't ever even make it to The Show? And if we're asking too much, we'll throw in Connor Joe and a bag of dogshit".
The A's traded Yonder Alonso and his All Star first half to the Mariners for Boog Powell in 2017.

Alonso was slashing .266/.369/.527 with 22 homers. He was just 30 years old and making just $4 million that year. Powell was the 30th ranked prospect in the Mariners organization.

Walker is 35 years old. Slashing similarly... and will be owed somewhere in the range of $30 million to have him for half a season and at age 36 in 2027. McGraw is ranked 13th in the M's org, Morales 16th... of a top 5 farm in the game. Both pitchers would slot in their top 10 immediately.

Mocking my trade when I have been very accurate in assessing trades is funny to me. I literally predicted 4 of the players moved to Arizona in trades that happened last year and I called out your BS then too. And for the millionth time DavidGee... you're too chicken shit to come with a trade yourself b/c you're too scared of looking vulnerable ever.
False equivalency. The Astros are rich, the A's are poor. Walker has had a great career and isn't done yet. Alonso had a fluky 2/3 of a season in a so-so career and was out of baseball two years later. Powell actually had a taste of The Show (albeit briefly). McGraw and Morales might not ever make it, especially Morales.

And PUH-LEEZE you didn't predict squat. Everyone knew we were going after Naylor and Suarez and by the time the trades were made we all had a good idea who was going.

Now if you'll excuse me, I need to head to the County Recorder's Office to file yet another Deed Of Trust on owning your ass.
You don't own anything ever. You're just a coward with no original thought. You just jump on the wagon when all is said and done and claim victory for nothing. 70% of your posts are about dirt baths, MARINERS WIN WE'RE HEROES (who fucking cares that you post that...), and crying because other people have original thoughts.

You didn't know shit about what was going to get traded. Actually a full-blown moron if you think a 36 year old DH making $20M a year is going to be traded for anything other than salary relief.

And imagine being an adult male traveling for softball tournaments. God, what a loser.

Wow, personal insults over a trade prediction disagreement on a small-time sports forum.

I'll just say this... If you don't know what introspection is, you should take a long, hard look at yourself.

Actually, one more thing: If you get so mad at someone on an online forum (where the point is to bandy about thoughts that you want to share) that you pick out personal details about their life that they've chosen to share with you and turn it back on them... You are most certainly a loser, with nothing going on in his own life, so you redirect your shame at faceless acquaintances online.

I wish there was a good Mariners forum, but there isn't.

Look at the Seahawks. They're fully aware that they could easily be next year's Eagles which is why they looked at the running back position and said you know what, we need to find the best young guy available and instead of taking a flyer on someone like Nick Chubb they drafted the second-best RB in the draft.
Wouldn't seizing the moment for the Seahawks have meant keeping Walker?
It could have, but considering what they would have had to pay to outbid the Chefs and Walker's injury history it probably wasn't that difficult a choice. Price is younger, cheaper, and hopefully as good.
Price is going to be at least as good and more reliable given far less mileage. btw it seems he knows how to catch a pass unlike what all the draft experts will have you believe. lol

Sorry for the OT non Hawks fans:

R
Rookie running back Jadarian Price, Seattle’s first-round draft pick, delivered perhaps the highlight of the day. During a 7-on-7 session, Price ran a route out of the backfield, raced past linebacker Chazz Surratt and hauled in a pass from backup quarterback Drew Lock for a big gain down the sideline.

Price had just 15 receptions over his three-year career at Notre Dame, which prompted some questions during the draft process about his ability to impact the game as a pass catcher. While it’d be a mistake to glean too much from one catch in a 7-on-7 OTA session, it was perhaps a good early sign for Price.

No. Different sports. In MLB you let a guy walk you don't just draft his replacement. You can in the NFL.

Sorry, if that was the first time I saw someone suggest trading starting pitching for a bat without providing a possible return I probably would have let it slide but I have probably seen it hundreds of times. We have a surplus of starting pitching and could use another bat  . Nothing new whatsoever other than you think Miller is damaged goods which is a reasonable opinion but overall to me that is lazy. Also suggesting promoting our #18 prospect to be our new UT despite him being on the IL and having very mid numbers for the PCL is pretty lazy imo as well.

I am not trolling you, just asking you to consider providing more thorough and impactful plans.... All good. I Appreciate the effort and content.
Fair enough. But again, I was not proposing a specific trade - I was lending to support to the idea that if we trade from the starting rotation, I felt Miller would my choice (for lots of reasons). I don't have access to a trade calculator, and I wasn't specifically making a trade proposal.

Also, I guess I would disagree that I was being lazy in my Rodden proposal. It was couched within a much longer thread I started that actually took hours to write and re-write. Here is what I said about Rodden "The DH platoon production is no longer sustainable. Rodden is mashing in the Pacific Coast League, his power-contact profile, switch-hitting flexibility, and recent power surge are exactly the thump the lineup needs. Promote him to the active 26-man roster immediately. To clear the spot, we DFA Rob Refsnyder, eat his contract, and move on. He's been a liability all season and that roster spot needs to go to someone who can actually contribute to a postseason run."

Doesn't seem like an off-handed comment, to me at least.

Lazy would be someone simply shrugging it off by saying they don't think he is mashing.

How is that lazy?

He has a .761 OPS with 7 homers and a .439 slug in 51 games.

How on earth is that mashing? He hasn't even really had an uptick in hitting performance over the past month... .788 OPS.

For the PCL that is just mediocre hitting.

What are you yawning at?

I'm providing actual stats... you're providing nothing but "I say he's mashing" and **yawn** ???

A .761 OPS for a 26 year old in AAA... yuck.

Am I taking crazy pills here or something?

Presumably so, lord knows the pillbox you keep them in is big enough to take cover behind during a shootout.

And for the record, I agree with you on Rodden, he's AAA fodder and nothing more.

The average OPS (On-Base Plus Slugging) in the Pacific Coast League (PCL) typically hovers around .800 to .839. This is notably higher than the Major League average (generally around .720 to .750), largely due to the PCL's hitter-friendly ballparks, thin air in high-elevation locations (like Albuquerque and Salt Lake), and warm weather.

Because it is widely considered one of the most offensive-heavy leagues in professional baseball, scouts generally apply a production discount when evaluating PCL hitters to determine how their stats will translate to the Majors.
