I've been sitting here wondering when the game thread's going to start and then durp de dur that little light bulb ignited.

Cal's back in the lineup tonight after going 6-14 with five home runs in four games with Tacoma. Yeah, that rehab assignment was totally necessary. JP's also back. If only Donovan were back we'd be set to go on a nice run here.

Pereda sent down, probably because they would have had to DFA Garver. Not seeing what the problem is with that. Oh well, like Jon Morosi said today, Garver is a valuable trade chip.

Gilbert on the hill against one of the two sacks of dogshit who threw seven scoreless innings against us on the road trip. Worse, both these sacks are righties who we're supposed to be strong against.

Cal had better not go 0-4 with three Ks tonight.

Hey Jude has posted this update on injuries and other bits

-Josh Naylor is dealing with wrist and shin issues and will be out at least tonight.

-Randy Arozarena (hamstring) having MRI today. Likely out for at least a couple days. M’s suddenly thin in OF.

Mariners are going back to a piggyback pitching plan, with a significant alteration: Every starter will rotate through and have piggyback days through the All-Star break.

This was a “unanimous” decision with all six starters involved in the planning, Justin Hollander said.

Cal's back. Rather than using this as a perfect time to move him to 4th or 5th, he's right back in the ol' 2-hole. If he's full strength, I want him in the lineup but hitting 2nd?!?! Mindless struck in the box non-thinking.
